Sheila Toll www.ontarioxtremecowboy.ca/ 2019 is shaping up to

be the most exciting year we have planned yet. We started the year off with The Eastern Canadian Championships on April 27th & 28th. This event was a 5x EXCA points In- ternational Race and clinic with Hall of Fame judge and competitor, Bill Cameron from California. Our second event of

the season will be at Mon- tasola

Farms in

Stevensville, where we had more than our share of fun last year. This was the event where the winning

entry was produced for the EXCA World Champion Stick Horse race won by our very own, Ellie Ross. This event will be May 19th with an added bonus of a cow sorting clinic by Calgary Stampede Final- ist, Terry McLeod on Sat- urday, May 18th. We are happy to wel-

come Horse Day Erin weekend, at the Erin Fair- grounds to our roster. There will be clinics with David Cowley June 8th followed by an Ontario Xtreme Cowboy Race on Sunday, June 9th. Entries

are open for these events and you can register online at www.ontarioxtreme- cowboy.ca 2019 has brought

some changes to the crite- ria for the Year-End High Point Awards as well as qualifying for the OXC Provincials Finals. The High Point award is now based on your top 5 scores. You no longer have to at- tend all the shows across Ontario and this seems to be a very welcomed change among our mem- bers. The criteria to qual- ify for the Provincial finals

this year is to compete in 1/4 of the shows and it is no longer limited to ten en- tries per division. The OXC Provincial Finals will take place at Ancaster Fairgrounds, October 25th & 26th. Four of our OXC

members kicked off the year with an earlier start than the rest of us, by at- tending the Aggie Days Race in Calgary, Alberta. Paige Swanson of Michi- gan, Jassen Philips and John Hodgson of Ontario and Shannon Townsend of Quebec teamed up to make

the long trip and experi- ence a little bit of what the Calgary Stampede would be like. All agreed that the atmosphere was electric and it was a thrill to have such a large crowd cheer them on. Those of us here at home were happy to have the opportunity to watch them live, as it was streamed online. Some more exciting

news to share is the gener- ous season sponsorship from Ionson Saddlery and HR Saddles. A beautiful saddle that was designed with Extreme Cowboy in mind, has been provided to our club. All winners of the Intermediate, Non Pro and Pro Divisions at all of this years OXC shows, will receive a ballot. The winner will be drawn at

MB Country Living celebrated the grand opening

of their new location in Fonthill, Ontario on Saturday, April 27th. The new 12,300 square foot store was jam packed with hundreds of customers as well as tons of ex- citing products. A number of supplier representatives were on hand to promote their products and there was great classic rock music provided by local radio station Giant FM 91.7.
