Sareece Brown & Very Smart Playmate

$1,000 Non Pro Limited

In the $1,000 Non Pro Limited it was Colorado cowgirl Jennifer Woodmansee rid- ing Chicody Leo (Smart Chic Olean x Miss Topsails Okie) who rode away with the world championship and $1,620. Woodmansee scored 424.5 points thanks to her score of 211 in the reined work and 213.5 on the cow. Woodmans- ee never relinquished her dominance of the di- vision having also won first in the prelims with a 286 composite (142 rein/144 cow).

Non Pro Two Rein

Morgan Holmes & The Smart Dun

Hard Smart Cash (Big Chex To Cash x Smar- tin Up) tied with identical scores of 430.5, the tie-breaker was the cow work score—Brown’s being a 218 (212.5 rein) and Fortenberry’s a 216 (214.5 rein). Brown pocketed $3,356.25 for the win. Having made the decision to retire Very Smart Playmate, the win was emotional for Brown. “What’s amazing about this is that this is our last world show together,” said Brown of her champion equine partner. “I can’t count the number of times this mare has gotten me to the Finals. I was able to win this class in 2014 and it’s been a hard decision, but she’s sound, she can still show but she’s done so much for me and now it’s time for me to let her have a rest.”

Morgan Holmes rode The Smart Dun (Dun It Big x Poco Smart Oak x Smart Little Lena) to the top of the field of Non Pro Two Rein finalists scoring 211 in the reined work and a thrilling 220.5 on the cow for a total on two of 431.5, which was worth $3,584.

Non Pro Hackamore Bobbys Playgun (Bobby Starlight x Han-

dle It Playgun) owned and ridden by Sydney Davis cumulative score of 428 (210 rein/218 cow) earned her $3,768 and the title of Non Pro Hackamore World Champion.

$5,000 Non Pro Limited Douglas Allan McDaniel, Jr. and CR Tuffs

Magic Tonic (Woody be Tuff x Miss Oak Ton- ic) had a successful day in both arenas. Not only did they top the Youth Limited prelims, but also earned the $5,000 Non Pro Limited World Championship and $2,910 thanks to a score of 442 (210 rein/212 cow).

“It feels great,” said McDaniel. “I didn’t

have the best cow at first so they whistled me a new one then I had a runner that took a while to get used to, but I got it done.”

“I’ve only been doing the cow horse for

a year, so I can’t complain,” said Clark. “My reined work was a drastic improvement over yesterday, it felt really good,” said the 16-year- old. “In my cow work I couldn’t get my cow to move anywhere but it worked out and wasn’t as bad as it felt.” w

to the Non Pro Limited World title thanks to a score of 434 (212 rein/222 cow) to earn $4,445. Though she didn’t grow up showing hors- es, Bacchetti has been a quick study thanks to her once-in-a-lifetime horse affectionately known as “Copper.” “He was the first cow horse I ever bought,” said Bacchetti. “He’s just been amazing for me. This is the one title we didn’t have and I was coming here whether I got it or not. It might be one of my last shows on him so it’s been kind of emotional, he’s been a dream come true.”

Youth Bridle

Lannie-Jo Lisac and Soulanova returned to capture their second world championship of the week, which they did in the Youth Bri- dle thanks to a composite score of 432. Lisac scored a 213 in the reined work and 219 on the cow to bank $550 and a plethora of awards. Of earning two world titles within as many days Lisac says the feeling can’t be beat. “It’s amazing, I don’t even know how to

explain it,” she said. “He was really good, es- pecially for having so many runs this week, he was still really good. He’s made five runs this week and he just stays good.”
