London Wine Fair: the UK’s must attend

drinks industry event 2019 will see the 39th edition of the London Wine Fair – the U.K.’s biggest drinks industry exhibition – take place at London Olympia.

The Fair is an essential three days for anyone involved in the world of drinks in the U.K. market and beyond. Last year more than 14,000 drinks industry professionals attended, over a third of which were from the on-trade sector, and more than a quarter were attending for the first time.

Key to the event is the diversity of its exhibitors, which include hundreds of generic bodies, UK importers of all sizes and individual brands seeking representation. There will be wines and spirits on show from more than 30 countries, including familiar names from France, Italy, Australia and Chile to the more unusual and yet-to-be- discovered gems from the likes of China, Greece and Slovakia.

This makes The Fair a “one stop shop” for venues looking to revamp drinks lists and search out the “Next Big Thing”, as well as meet up with

distributors, the winemakers and distillers behind the brands.

Drinks Britannia, which launched last year to celebrate the best of British-made drinks from the wine, spirits, beer, cider and soft drinks categories, will return. Exhibitors confirmed to date include: a dedicated Welsh wine, spirit and craft food area; Loch Ness Water; and Stroud Brewery – all of which will exhibit for the first time - and of course, the Nyetimber bus!

Esoterica, the area for niche importers, will feature more than 100 businesses, and the main floor of the show, will welcome a vast array of distributors, including: ABS Wine Agencies; Broadland Wineries; Buckingham Schenk; Ehrmanns; Felix Solis Avantis; and Carson Wines.

The Innovation Zone, which launched in 2018, will return with new exhibitors

and content from the world of design and technology. A series of “TED-style” talks covering the latest innovations in the drinks and hospitality industries will be hosted.

The event’s content is key to its success, and The Fair has built an unrivalled reputation as a platform for drinks education and innovation, through its programme of Industry Briefings and Masterclasses. The Education Zone, which is run with the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (W.S.E.T.) will have a programme of content designed to appeal to all sectors of, and career levels within, the drinks and associated industries.

Sessions across the board have increased significantly for 2019 to cope with the demand, and places can be booked in advance via www.londonwinefair.com.
