Nicki takes on new role as head at Holmesdale
THE new head teacher at The Holmesdale School, Snodland, Nicki Hodges, has been in the profession for over 20 years. She did her training at Christ
Church University, Canterbury, and her first job was in Dartford. In 2001, she worked at West- lands School, Sittingbourne, which became an outstanding school while she was there. From 2013, under the Swale
Academies Trust, she was work- ing with other schools support- ing their improvements, and in 2014 she was promoted to the head teacher role at North School, Ashford – a school in special measures – which be- came a good school in 2017. Mrs Hodges was asked to pick
up an interim headship at The Holmesdale starting on January 1. The school is in specialmeas- ures and she said her priorities are to support leadership and management. She has a senior
leadership team of six. Staff go to other schools to
see how they operate. There are about 600 pupils at Holmesdale and staff “are really good, really supportive and very keen to keep moving forward.” “The pupils are very good,”
she said. “They run to lessons and they come in ready to learn.” Mrs Hodges’ predecessor,
Nicki Hodges is the new head teacher at The Holmesdale School in Snodland
Tina Bisset, left the school at Christmas, saying: “Although I have only been at Holmesdale for two years, it has become a huge part of my life and I will miss it greatly. I have enormous affection for the students and want the best for them.” Mrs Hodges lives in Faver-
sham, is married to husband, Eliot, and the couple have three children.
Santa drive
SNODLAND Town Football Club delivered 423 presents to children in the area as part of its annual charity drive. Clubmembers and support-
ers dressed up as Santa and elves for the Christmas pro- cession through the town’s streets said chairman Dave Jeal. He added: “We had about
20 more drop-offs than last year, whichmade it a real chal- lenge to get themdelivered. “We started at 1.45pm and
finished just after 9pm, so it was a long shift in cold condi- tions, but the excitement on the faces of the kidsmade it all worthwhile.”
Head pupils
THE Holmesdale School in Malling Road, Snodland, has named Katie Bromley and Bill Miners as their new head girl and boy. The pair will be responsible
for organising fundraising events in the coming year in support of both local and na- tional charities.
A great experience
“We are new advertisers from 2018, our experience has been great. We couldn't believe the response we had from the publication.
Lovely people to deal with, very efficient, we would strongly recommend anyone to give it a go.”
