MWHS 19th Annual Youth Scholarship Awards

The Mid-Western Ontario Horse-

man’s Society Board of Director are pleased to announce the recipient of the Mid Western Ontario Horseman’s Society 19th Annual Youth Scholar- ship Awards. The 2018 scholarship was pre-

sented at the Mid-Western Ontario Horseman’s Society Annual Awards Banquet held Saturday, December 1, 2018 at the Melbourne Legion in Mel- bourne. The $1000.00 Scholarship winner was Maggie Annett. Maggie is currently in her first year of the BSc Biology program at the University of Guelph. Maggie completed all of the application requirements including a short essay, volunteer hours and sub- mitted the necessary references and transcripts. Maggie is a member of 4- H, MWHS, Tri County Horse Club and the Dresden Saddle Club. Since the Scholarship program

started in the year 2000, 41 youth have received

scholarships totaling

$23,500. In the past, a minimum of two $500.00 scholarships have been presented, however in January 2015, Mid-Western Ontario Horseman’s So- ciety received a large donation from the sale of land owned by Lambton County Saddle Club. Mid-West is very appreciative of this sizeable donation. From this donation the funds available to be awarded will be a minimum of two $1000.00 scholarships. Number of scholarships presented is deter- mined by the number of successful ap- plications received. Scholarships are available only to members of Mid- Western Ontario Horseman’s Society. Youth aged 17 to 23 from horse clubs in southwestern Ontario are encour- aged to become a Mid-Western On- tario member and submit a scholarship application.
