2012. OXC originated from Craig Cameron’s Extreme Cowboy

Association

(EXCA) and is part of an af- filiation of clubs around the world. The sport encom- passes up to 13 obstacles in

a course depending on divi- sion and rated according to their level of difficulty from 1R (least difficult) to 6R (most difficult). The course obstacles are to simulate challenges a cowboy could encounter working on a ranch. Opening of gates, crossing bridges, water and a variety of other tasks, all could be a part of the course. Things certainly never get boring in OXC as courses are always different. The combination of obstacles and horsemanship in timed events, challenges horse and rider skills. As skills and confidence build, so does the efficiency. Most riders start in the Novice division and can move up the levels as their confidence and suc- cess grows.

HORSEMANSHIP. Not reckless speed. Not dare- devil stunts and if anything, that is frowned upon in our sport. We provide levels that suit children as young as 7, Youth, Novice, Intermedi- ate, Non-Pro and Pro levels. We even have a division for riders 55 and over called ‘Ride Smart’. What can this sport do for you and your horse? It will inspire you to increase your horsemanship skills. This results in a horse that is braver, more confi- dent and happy with the stimulating environment provided. There are clinics and events happening all over Ontario this year. We would love to have you join

in! Do you want to be a

part of the most versatile, fun and exciting sport in Ontario? Check out our Facebook page ‘Ontario Ex- treme Cowboy Club’ and in- teract with any of our over 2500 members, visit our website at www.ontarioex- tremecowboy.ca or contact any of our Directors listed here. We have some excit- ing new changes for 2019 to make our sport more invit- ing, more appealing and more fun than ever before!

The Prez Says A warm welcome to

everyone from the Ontario Xtreme Cowboy Club. As the new 2019 President of OXC, I’m excited for the

upcoming race season and it can’t get here fast enough! The OXC Board will be looking at some new ideas for 2019, and is working hard with planning as many events as we can. Events all over Ontario will be an- nounced through our web- site by late winter/early spring. You would also be very

welcome to contact myself directly should you have any questions or concerns at 416-529-5425. I would be happy to chat with you about Xtreme Cowboy Rac- ing in Ontario!

Get ready to have fun! Susan Caldwell
