MOD Contract for Skanska


Skanska has been awarded a contract to provide facilities management services to the Ministry of Defence at Northwood HQ in Hertfordshire. The 13-year contract understood to be


worth £196m will, under a private finance initiative, see Skanska deliver all non-military support activities on the site until 2031. Service provision through the contract


includes all facilities management services, such as buildings maintenance, grounds maintenance and IT communications infrastructure support. “This contract is an exciting opportunity


for Skanska to build on its good reputation in both the defence sector and the facilities management market. There is an excellent team in place to support this important


operation and I look forward to seeing the relationship go from strength to strength in the coming years,” said Adam McDonald, Skanska Managing Director. Northwood HQ is made up of the UK


military headquarters, NATO maritime headquarters and an EU operations headquarters. Approximately 2,500 military personnel work on the site.


Secures Global FM Deal with Merck


JLL, a property services group has won a multi-site contract to run offices facilities management operations for Merck, a science and technology company.


The agreement spans 125 locations in 63 countries across Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific.


With a focus on supporting Merck’s businesses and workplace experience globally, JLL will work with Merck to innovate and integrate the facilities management operations across its global portfolio becoming Merck’s main global facilities management advisor and provider.


This appointment represents a significant EMEA led global mandate for JLL in the life sciences sector.

IPM Facilities Wins National Grounds Maintenance & Cleaning Deal


IPM Facilities has been awarded and already begun a three-year contract to deliver cleaning, grounds maintenance services and civil engineering works nationally for property management agent Edgerley Simpson Howe (ESH).


Hampshire-based IPM will carry out grounds maintenance, daily litter


collection and site cleansing duties and undertake various civil works at retail parks and shopping centres as part of the deal.


As well as the horticultural element, part of the contract involves continual health and safety monitoring of the public areas and as part


of the tender submission, IPM provided a fully bespoke client portal for ESH, enabling its facilities managers’ real-time access to updates, ticket resolution, and H&S documentation.


Stuart Bromhead, senior facilities manager at ESH, said: “The footfall at our retail parks is enormous and the safety of the public is paramount. IPM Facilities have worked for us now for a number of years... Our decision to award them the contract was not only based on their

horticultural expertise but also based on their H&S records on similar portfolios they manage on our behalf”.
