Walpole Winter Craft Barn 2018 THE seventh annual Winter
Craft Barn will take place on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th November at Hill House Farm, Walpole, from 11am to 4 pm each day – raising funds for our local 'green' charity: 'Cookpole Energy Action'. There will be over 35 stalls, displaying a fantastic selection of hand-crafted gifts, all by local artists. As in previous years, we will also have our café, big prize raffle, and electric bikes to try out. The organisers are very happy that some stallholders
keep coming back year after year. Simon Weeks, Chair of the organising group said, “It’s a real vote of confidence in the event and I think the word gets around because we always have some new craftspeople as well as the established ones. This year we are welcoming several new stall-holders to the fair. The range of crafts on sale will be really exciting.” Entry: Adults £1 (children
free).

Rose Cottage Cats Navigation exercise
ON the weekend of 5th-7th October, Bungay detachment of Suffolk Army Cadet Force attended a training weekend at the ACF’s dedicated training centre in Thetford. The weekend gave the cadets
LILLEY, last month's featured cat, is settling in nicely at her new home with an elderly gentleman in Southwold. We have been quite busy
over the last month, homing a number of cats. This has meant that several new ones have come in including two mature ginger girls and three white cats, one male (the son of one of the two females). At last month's sale we took a
total of £104.56 (more than we thought it would be, as it was very slow). Our next sale will be on Saturday 20th October (a week earlier than normal) again at the Buttercross, Bungay and it will be our last sale here, as we are finding it exhausting loading car, driving down, unloading setting up and loading tables, then packing it all up again a few hours later, having been on our feet all day. Old age is getting to us! This month we are featuring
two boys. They are not together, but I wanted to mention both, as we don't get many boys in. The first is Blackie - an elderly lady's
cat. She can't cope as he wants to be with her and trips her up! The second is a stray called Buster a tabby boy, shy until he knows you, then lovely! He is about seven years old. We've had a traumatic time
with the Rescue. It would appear that last sale day someone came round to the Rescue to look at kittens while we were out, and left them all with a horrible virus which has killed most of them off. We had the vet over to see them and she put them and their Mums on a lot of medications (the Mums seemed ok but we didn't want to take a chance on them coming out with it later). Sadly as I write we only have three kittens still alive, plus Mums. They seem to be getting better. I have found it all too upsetting and shan't be taking kittens in any more. For cat related advice or to
view our cats please call Lyn on 01508 482737. Hope to see lots of you at
Bungay Buttercross on Saturday 20th October.

the opportunity to undertake and participate in various skills that are taught at the local detachment. These skills include a Navigation exercise in which groups of 3 or 4 cadets had to follow a planned route through parts of Thetford training area, reporting in at key points along the route. Each cadet in the group had the opportunity to lead the group at various stages of the expedition. The success of the expedition totally relied on the groups acting as a team. Shooting was also practised
on the weekend in the dedicated Tube ranges at Croxton road and some sharpshooters from Bungay have been identified. Hopefully they will go on to represent the County at a national level shooting competition. PT and Drill/Rifle drill was
also covered on the weekend and the cadets put in a marvellous effort at both. Drill is an important
factor especially with the remembrance day parade coming up at which Bungay Detachment will be parading. Being a member of the ACF community is sometimes hard work, always fun and very rewarding. Amongst the other activities and numerous awards given on

Cinema+Create @The Fisher Theatre - Monthly FUN followed by MORE FUN in Bungay
ON the morning of Sunday 7th October over 60 parents and excited young children gathered at The Fisher Theatre, Bungay, to enjoy the 10th Cinema+Create session. This month’s film and crafty theme was a good old Halloweeny showing of Julia Donaldson’s delightful, 'Room on the Broom'. After sitting down to the film, parents then set about helping their children create broomsticks from cardboard tubes, brown fabric and wool, googly-eyed frogs made out of paper bowls with brilliant party blower tongues, beautiful, sparkly wands and witches hats adorned with some seriously disco fabrics and glittery stars. The sold-out audience was once again made up of tons of people we had not met before, all of whom left with a sparkling new witch’s outfit, a frog and a very big smile. The session has been running through the cooler months since September 2017 and each session has been sponsored by a different small local business; October’s was supported by the fabulous Theberton-based ’Maui Waui Festival’ and November’s show is sponsored by our friends over at Earsham: ‘Yes Tents Events’. An interesting, or else really beloved, children’s film is followed by a short interval. The audience then come back in and enjoy making, crafting and playing with themed bits
and bobs, all prepared and thought up by the volunteers. Absolutely all of the fun comes under the £5 ticket price, which is also kept low to allow the sessions to be accessible to all families within our community. We noticed that other than sports clubs, there wasn’t a lot to do with children aged 3-9 around Bungay over the weekend. We often get in the car and drive up to Norwich for cinema or theatre. Our aim initially was to introduce a
whole new generation to The Fisher Theatre and to help provide something in Bungay that was affordable and not in the remotest bit exclusive. Come and enjoy ‘We’re
Going on a Bear Hunt’ and lots of lovely activities afterwards at the next Cinema+Create on November 18th at The Fisher Theatre, Bungay. Call Box Office on 01986 897130 or visit
www.fishertheatre.org for tickets.
