[INDUSTRY NEWS]

means that our QMS has been approved to the new standards of ISO 9001:2015 and the much more stringent aerospace industry standard AS9100:D, under the terms set out under United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) accreditation. After a week of close scrutiny by the

auditors from Lloyds Register, who inspected every aspect of our quality system from back office functions to manufacturing processes, our team was pleased to hear they had passed with flying colors. They demonstrated that they consistently and accurately follow the correct processes, and work with a strong customer focus and a drive to continual improvement, at all levels and areas of the business. Shelley Wales, General Manager, was

delighted that the hard work and dedication of the Petersen team has been recognized, “I am so proud of every member of the team. Achieving a quality accreditation is not about the week of the audit – it’s about the attention to detail every single day of the year. It is this consistency that makes our system so robust and one in which customers can trust.”

Quality Certifications ISO 9001 sets out the criteria for a quality management system, and approval to the standard is proof of our commitment to providing quality products and services. There are over one million companies and organizations in over 170 countries certified to ISO 9001, and we are delighted to be one of them. AS9100, which is based on ISO 9001, provides a specific quality management standard for the aerospace industry, with a focus on risk, traceability and continuous improvement of quality and service. y

Rope and Sling Places Industry Stalwart into Scotland Role

> Rope and Sling Specialists Ltd. (RSS) has named lifting industry veteran Davey Walker business development director (Scotland), effective 20 August 2018. Based at the company’s Grangemouth site, he brings 44 years of experience to the role, most recently from leadership positions at Speedy Lifting and its acquired business Lloyds British Testing.

Walker has already initiated a two-pronged

offensive to grow business at the northernmost of RSS’s six UK sites and continue to serve as a bastion for lifting equipment specialists. He is well placed to deliver on both fronts having successfully led half-a-dozen Scottish facilities for the last 15 years before accepting the new position. In the first instance, Walker will look to

leverage a vast contacts book to cultivate potential customers in the Stirlingshire vicinity and further afield, whilst looking for ways to better serve a diverse, existing customer base. It is anticipated that he will setup meetings with purchasing decision makers in the region’s refineries, where lifting and rigging gear of all types and capacity is in widespread use in one of the country’s most demanding end user marketplaces.
