Modernmum 1
Next issue January 2019
Summer already seems a long time ago, doesn’t it? I always think autumn evenings are like Marmite – you either hate to see the dark nights coming in or you love the routine of arriving home, getting the fire lit and getting into your PJs to cosy up with the kids. Even if you don’t like the autumn evenings, you can take
comfort in the fact that the dark nights herald the countdown to the festive season and all that that brings! That’s why in this issue we’ve devoted so much space to both the great selection
of family fun activities that are on in the months leading up to both Halloween and Christmas (p49) AND to the fabulous range of toys that Santa will be delivering throughout the island of Ireland in his sleigh (p52)! We always say that at Modern Mum dads are also super special and in this issue
we have a really special one - Bellaghy dad, Donard McErlean – who tells us why, although having a child with Down’s Syndrome can bring extra challenges to parenting, he wouldn’t change it for the world (p16)! Elsewhere in this issue you can read about how to recognise when your child is no
longer a toddler (p28), how to go from slummy to yummy mummy in five minutes (p44) and how to protect your abdominal muscles during pregnancy (p4), as well as the usual favourites. So now it’s time to just light the fire, get the PJs on, put your feet up and relax!
