JulianDennis (1stDan) ‘Having trained at theHombuDojo two years agowithAkamineHiroshi Sensei, the anticipation of training there again togetherwith attending the First Karate and Kobudo International Tournament, this trip could not come soon enough.We landed inOkinawa on Tuesday morning and had our first training session that evening at theHombu Dojo then out for a traditional Welcome Partywithmouthwatering food and greatOkinawan beer. The following daywe had the


opening ceremony of the Tournamentwithmany countries


takingpart.TheUK team enteredtheBudokanwith the French teamonly for us todiscover thatoneof the ladies in the French teamhad beenborn andattended primary school inGloucester, where she startedher karate, before returning toFrance. What a smallworldit is.The Seminarswere a great experience,both karate and kobudo, andtrainingwith so manyother karateka from otherpartsof theworldwill be a cherishedmemory.’
