THE PERFECT VENUE

Are you still hunting for that perfectwedding venue? Photographer and blogger Sheryl Fish shares her own experienceswith a selection of beautiful and local places to tie the knot.

AWedding Photographer has the unique position of visiting awedding venue as a guest, a supplier and a work colleague. We are invited to be a large part of the day by thewedding couple andwhilstwe are there to work,we are also looked after as a guest by the venue, whomake sure we have everythingwe need, are fed andwatered and happy. Themajority ofwedding suppliers

are involved in sections of either preparations or the actual day, such as cakemakers, florists,make-up and hair artists etc.As photographers,we arewith our couples for 8-10hours of

their special day, minglingwith their guests andwe see everything as a guestwould. We also see all the 'Back ofHouse' organisation andwork closelywith the venue, their co- coordinators and caterers. Everyone has their role to play and communication is key. The photographerwouldn'twant to hold up food service by the official group photos running late andwe alsowork together if anything needs tweaking due to inclementweather. The venues that I have chosen to

feature today all have certain things in common.

14 SEPTEMBER /OCTOBER 2018 THECHELTONIAN

• The couples have been ecstatic about the service they have received, before, during and after. • The venue has been clear and friendly in communicationwith myself. • They have an 'above and beyond' attitude. • The catering has been second to none. • They care. • They treat everyone as aVIP. (Even me) •Bonus points if they served marinated cocktail sausage canapes
