Master leatherwork with Clive Whereatt


Clive Whereatt Saddlery leatherwork courses have been arranged to cater for any level of knowledge, be it purely an interest or to gain an insight into producing leather goods or saddlery.


The initial course is of four days duration in small groups, to provide an idea of the skills and workmanship needed to produce simple items in leather. The basics are covered, including the use of the correct needles and threads and stitching requirements, as well as the right leather to use for different items and purposes. Courses are held in our workshop


located on the outskirts of Bath and are based on developing practical skills in making and repairing leather items.


Once the basics have been established, we can provide more advanced instruction, covering bridlework, as well as saddle repair and reflocking, and then on to assist those who need help with particular set pieces for Society of Master Saddlers examinations.


For anyone considering saddlery and leatherwork as a career, or those wishing to repair leather items, these courses could be the first step.
