the only hoist ring manufacturer that can make such a claim. But to create such quality products requires space. Lots of space.

Room to Grow What brought ADB to Valdosta in 2003 might depend on who you ask about the move, but the high cost of living in L.A. married with the equally high cost of running a business could certainly be seen as prompting a business owner to search for places to stretch out. Which is exactly what ADB is doing again, this summer. Te manufacturer is planning to unveil a brand-new 36,000-square-foot addition, to an already existing 35,200-square-foot facility. “We really need more than what we got,” maintained Scolaro. Doubling the ADB footprint will allow the company to improve warehouse, shipping, and receiving capabilities. When ADB bought the original building in Valdosta, there was a sizable piece of unused property next door and the timing proved perfect. “With the original layout, we were simply bursting at the seams,” Scolaro explained—adding that ADB will employ around 70 people in the completed facility. “Tis will allow for better flow and more room to do everything we’re doing.”

Te older of the two buildings will be dedicated strictly to manufacturing, with plans to continue adding new machines as business grows.

Scaling Up

ADB offers some 500 different hoist ring varieties, ranging from a 400-pound capacity hoist, which can fit in the palm of your hand, to a 250,000-pound capacity hoist. Te largest hoist alone weighs close to 1,000 pounds and comes with a mounting screw six inches in diameter. “Very large-scale stuff; you need a crane to put it in

place,” said Scolaro. And while the bulk of their sales are of the smaller variety, Scolaro noted that a customer

could call today and ADB would begin the process to ship a 250,000-pound capacity hoist ring by tomorrow. “You’d be hard pressed to find someone else who can do that,” he assured. ADB serves a wide range of industries (all sectors of manufacturing) as well, including aerospace, defense, stamping and injection molding, power generation (nuclear, hydro, wind), construction, mining, concrete, and precast. And manufacturing capabilities go far
