media. It is a diverse skillset she’s looking forward to leveraging at SP. She explained: “Essentially, my new
role involves working with customers, primarily on the telephone and over email, to generate quotes and maximize the sales of the business. However, I am confident that the position will diversify over time and there will be great opportunities for career development. In my early days here I’ve detected a relaxed culture where staff are encouraged to express themselves and put their ideas forward for discussion.” Cordwell continued: “SP is a growing
business but it’s clear they haven’t lost that all- important personal touch and they clearly care about their customers. It’s evident already that David and the team work hard to preserve a supportive culture and everyone has been very welcoming. I’m picking up the systems and am gradually learning the vast array of products we can provide. Of course the task of learning them all is slightly daunting but I intend to tackle that challenge head-on.” Ayling concluded: “It’s easy to forget the extent of the diversification of the SP range,
which now serves so many niche industries and applications, but all our innovation and expansion stems from the same core set of values and Kizzie has already shown a great aptitude to that culture so the learning curve will be that much smoother.” y
LGH Hosts Successful 2018 LEEA Golf Day
> Lifting Gear Hire (LGH) welcomed over 100 guests to this year’s Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA) Golf Day, which took place at the Wychwood Park Golf Club in Cheshire, UK on Thursday 14 June 2018. LGH, a lifting equipment hire company,
secured full membership in LEEA, the world’s leading representative body for all those involved in the industry, earlier this year. The association’s annual Golf Day is a significant event, hosted by a different member company each year (the baton has already been handed to 2019 organizers, Speedy Hire). Record numbers attended with 85 golfers teeing off and a total of 105 people sitting down to a celebratory dinner.
[INDUSTRY NEWS] The day is multifaceted in format with a
breakfast, round of golf, multiple prizes, three- course dinner, and networking all on offer to LEEA members and staff. Recently appointed CEO Dr. Ross Moloney; Robert Messenger, member engagement services; and Craig Morelli, accredited training manager, made up the association’s playing contingent, while Gemma Palmer-Dighton, events and marketing executive, completed LEEA representation. Colin Naylor, managing director at LGH,
said: “The day couldn’t have gone better. We had a very windy start but luckily managed to avoid the rain and as the day went on we enjoyed some strong sunshine. The Golf Day is great fun but also presents an opportunity to engage with other LEEA members, which promotes sharing of information for continued improvement of industry best practices; we were honored to facilitate such positive exchanges.” Golfers competed in seven prize categories,
including the Bill Parkinson Trophy, for best Stableford score by a member; the Derek Brant Memorial Trophy, for best gross score by a member; the Tiger Lifting Trophy, for best Stableford score by a guest; the President’s
