AQHA Versatility Ranch Horse Best Ranch Horse Show Ever
Ben Baldus & Seven S Woodrow
Gaitlin Duncan & Gray Hope Stik Sometimes, we throw a loop at a steer and miss. Sometimes, we
catch. This was one of those times. We caught big. The Zoetis AQHA Versatility Ranch Horse World Championships was a complete success, thanks in no small part to our exhibitors, whose amazing patience and cowboy can-do spirit made the week a pleasure for all of us. In the words of AQHA Director of Ranching Kim Lindsey, “This was the best ranch horse show ever!” Topping the list of six world champions was the VRH open world champion Seven S Woodrow, ridden by Ben Baldus for owner Jerry Ward. The 5-year-old Woody Be Tuff gelding earned his first world cham- pionship title. See the sidebar for the complete list of World Champions.

Zoetis AQHA Ranching Heritage-bred horses were on full display
at the Zoetis AQHA Ranching Heritage Challenge Finals. The Zoetis AQHA Ranching Heritage program recognizes the quality American Quarter Horse ranch horses being raised on working cattle ranches. These horses demonstrate the athletic ability, soundness, and cow sense needed to not only work on a ranch, but also perform in the show ring and rodeo arena. On June 17, these horses were on display at the Zoetis AQHA Ranching Heritage Challenge Finals.
Ranching Heritage Breeders produce horses that are exclusively
eligible to compete for more than $100,000 each year in Zoetis AQHA Ranching Heritage Challenges, as well as for other awards open only to Ranching Heritage-bred horses. See the sidebar for the complete list of winners.

During the 2018 Zoetis AQHA Versatility Ranch Horse World Championships and Zoetis AQHA Ranching Heritage Challenge Finals, 14 youth and amateur riders received AQHA Level 1 champion titles in cutting, boxing, working cow horse, heading, heeling, tie-down roping, breakaway roping and ranch riding. Moving the Level 1 cattle classes to coincide with the Zoetis VRH World, which took place June 13-17, opened doors for Level 1 exhibitors to get a taste of VRH competition. And, the beautiful Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, OK, gave Level 1 competi- tors a chance to show off their skills in spacious arenas. See the Level 1 winners in the sidebar.
