Danette and Steve Sorrells, Seagoville,


celebrated their 17th anniversary on July 1, at an USCHA event in Sulphur Springs. Danette won the $15K-Novice-Horse NP division that day on Im Double Smart. The day before the talented team earned a second-place check.


Topsail Whiz became NRHA’s only 12


Million Dollar Sire, when the NRHA Derby ended July 1. The stallion died in 2009 and was owned by Bob Loomis Reining Horses. With NRHA Lifetime Earnings of nearly $50,000, his obvious successes have been in the breed- ing shed with his progeny including 7 NRHA Open Futurity champions and 4 Open Derby champions plus three NRHA 3 Million Dollar Sires and Two NRHA 2 Million Dollar Sires.

Lauren Kelly, Stephenville, posted a time


of 14.54 on Chasin Perks, winning the Open 1D at Wild West Productions’ July 7 event at Salt Creek Arena in Boyd.


Anna Marie Schreck, Murphy, and My


Tachita Lena marked 74 to win the $50K-NP at USCHA’s July 8 show in Ada, OK. She also won the Youth that day with a 72 on Stylish Pink, owned by her sister Ellie.

Western Assistant Coach for Baylor Univer- sity’s equestrian team. She graduated from TAMU in 2013 with a BS in Agriculture Eco- nomics and received her Masters of Science in Agricultural Leadership, Education, and Com- munications in 2015, also from TAMU.

signed to ride on Texas A&M University’s horsemanship team for the coming season. She has enjoyed a long career in AQHA show are- nas all over the country. At the 2017 AQHA World Championship Show, she and No Doubt I’m Smooth were AQHA WP champi- ons. This summer, she’s stayed busy. She and Burn It Down Baby earned 4 firsts and the cir- cuit championship in Youth 14-18 WP at Georgia QHA’s Stars and Stripes show in Conyers, GA, June 29-July 1!


Brett Reuling, Madisonville, LA, took


2nd place in the $2K July 14 at Central Mis- sissippi CHA’s event in Forest, earning his first check on his new horse, Chases Kattalac. The next day, Mason Griffin marked a 74 on the horse and won the $5K-Novice-Horse class.


Losses Custom Crome, an NRHA Four Million


Dollar Sire, recently passed away. Owned by Steve Simon, Marietta, OK, the 1990 stallion was inducted into the NRHA Hall of Fame in 2009. In 1993 he won the NRHA Futurity with Mike Flarida aboard. His top progeny includes Custom Pistol, Custom Cash Advance, and Continued on page 28
