Shop local! When I visit the fabulous independent boutiques across our region everyone I meet waxes lyrical about shopping locally, supporting local businesses and putting money back into the community, thus securing jobs. I couldn't agree more with every argument they put forward. The social aspect of shopping is also important, that interaction, chatting to shopkeepers! Trying on a garment, checking the quality and ensuring that these business owners who have invested in our High Street actually see the results from their efforts, rather than some faceless internet site who may or may not pay taxes in this country, is all part of the experience and reward of 'going out to shop'.

Let me take this one step further. I recently ordered a dress online for an event. I hadn't time to go shopping due to crazy personal stuff, family in hospital etc. etc. but what arrived from the expensive site didn't resemble the dress I ordered at all. Photographing the clothes must be a fine art, as somehow they make the garment look worth the price tag! What arrived, however, wasn't. I tried twice more with dresses that looked fabulous online and arrived looking like a poor relation. Never again! If we don't want to see our High Street disappear, get out and support it.

Someone who is known for her outspoken views, despite her young years, is Amandla Stenberg. We chatted to her about her role in the film The Darkest Minds which hits the cinema this month. She also talked psychic powers, strong role models and chemistry. I have a feeling she'll be adding politician to singer and actor on her CV.

Going back to shopping locally, we have a Worcester feature this month boasting boutique shops, fab little eateries, amazing open spaces and free events, there's even a giraffe art trail. If you haven't yet visited Worcester, this summer presents you with the perfect opportunity.

Enjoy reading this issue which is packed full of great offerings from across the area. Much love Katie & Team xxx www.live24-seven.com
