DI SNE Y ’ S A L ADDIN THE MAGIC IS STILL STRONG...

For those that have yet to see Disney’s hit West End musical Aladdin at the Prince Edward Theatre, I would have to ask, “What are you waiting for?”

I was offered the chance to review the show ahead of its second birthday in London with an overnight stay at the Radisson Blu Edwardian in Bloomsbury. Just 90 minutes from Lichfield Trent Valley to Euston and no traffic queues, we checked in to the hotel, which boasts a great location, friendly staff and stylish rooms – the perfect base for our trip with it being a short five minute walk from the Prince Edward Theatre.

My daughter Katie was delighted to receive a press pack and goody bag full of Aladdin treats as we made our way to our seats and she found it quite hard to contain her excitement as she rummaged through the contents – that’s before the real spectacle began!

The performance itself was magical, every child’s dream. The stage was awash with colour and the incredible cast delivered what was the most energetic adaption of the much-loved movie. For us the fun-loving genie was the standout character, we all laughed at his incredible delivery and sang along with songs impulsively!

The theatre was literally full of the magic of Disney, it was tangible! Even the adults in the audience couldn’t help but join in with the timeless songs from this heart-warming masterpiece. During interval drinks the reception and bar areas were alive with people of all ages discussing their favourite bits of the performance.

Behind the show there is a very impressive list of Tony, Olivier and Oscar award-winning talent that comes across in every aspect of this incredible production.

Running until 2019, visit: www.aladdinthemusical.co.uk to book tickets.
