ENJOY SUMMER IN WORCE S T E R

There are many reasons why a visit to Worcester is enjoyable, and this year there’s an art trail added into the mix!

Worcester Stands Tall giraffe art trail see’s 57 fabulous giraffe sculptures placed throughout the streets and open spaces of Worcester. Perfect for snapping selfies with, they add a splash of additional colour to the rich tapestry of this beautiful city before being auctioned to raise money for St Richard’s Hospice Build 2020 Appeal. Follow the trail and pick your favourite, you may even want to bid on it in the auction in October?

Don’t forget to #WorcStandsTall your giraffe selfie!

Giraffes aside, if you like shopping, then Worcester’s huge variety of independent shops will get you excited. In Worcester you shop the more unusual, it’s not about the predictable High Street names here, although you’ll find them too, it’s about handpicked, unique finds which also sit alongside designer labels. Worcester is about finding something fabulous for you, your loved ones or a special something for the home. To add to the delight these great finds are often housed in period black and white timber buildings and nestled away in quirky streets. The shopping experience is a pleasant one and the journey is all part of it.

From Friar Street with its designer boutiques to The Tything, a salvage

hunters and antique collector’s paradise. The friendly and attentive shop owners are ready to help or just to chat, they appreciate your custom which makes parting with your cash certainly less painful!

Pop into one of the cafes or eateries and enjoy delicious food and locally sourced produce or pack a picnic and head to one of the many open spaces and relax before a riverside stroll. From shopping and dining to scenic walks, you really are spoilt for choice.

Visit the Worcester Art Gallery & Museum, walk the walk on The Elgar Walking tour, breathe in history at the Battle of Worcester Trail or listen to a band in the park. Indoors or outdoors there’s something for every age group.

Make the most of your day out, but try to stay longer. Take time to explore as many of Worcester’s streets are layered in history. Beyond the High Street, you will discover why Worcester is ranked in the top 5% of UK heritage cities alongside Oxford and Cambridge.

This summer visit Worcester…we know it won’t be the last time you do…
