£200-240 Henry Twist served during the Great War with the 2nd Battalion, Royal Scots on the Western Front from 11 August 1914.
Hugh C. Lyddon was born in King’s Norton, Birmingham, in 1889, and served during the Great War with the 9th Battalion, Royal Warwickshire Regiment in the Balkan theatre of War from 13 July 1915. He was discharged on 7 January 1919.
George Robert Camb was born in Blackburn, Lancashire, on 24 May 1877 and attested for the East Lancashire Regiment at Burnley on 18 July 1896. He served with the 2nd Battalion in India, before transferring to the Reserve on 3 February 1904. Following the outbreak of the Great War he re-enlisted in the East Lancashire Regiment on 19 October 1914, and served during the Great War with the 2nd Battalion on the Western Front from 28 December 1914. He suffered a gun shot wound to the left thigh on 13 May 1915 and returned home. Recovering, he returned to France on 24 May 1916. He transferred to Class ‘Z’ Reserve o 25 October 1919.
Sold with the recipient’s Certificate of Transfer to the Reserve; Parchment Reserve Certificate; Parchment Certificate of Character on Discharge; Third Class Certificate of Education, this damaged; Testimonial Letter; group photograph; and various other ephemera and copied research.
Arthur F. Boyce attested for the Middlesex Regiment on 10 November 1914 and served during the Great War with the 8th Battalion in the Egyptian theatre of War from 24 August 1915. Transferring to the Labour Corps, he was discharged on account of wounds on 15 March 1919, and received a Silver War Badge.
Walter Baxter served during the Great War with the 2nd Battalion, Leicestershire Regiment on the Western Front from 12 December 1914. His Medal Index Card is annotated ‘1914-15 Star taken on charge CRV.508d (Forfeited), Deserted 22-12-16’. Re-joining his unit, he transferred to Class ‘Z’ Reserve on 21 April 1919.
Gregory Hollingsworth was born in Glasgow in 1882 and attested for the Worcestershire Regiment at Aldershot on 14 September 1900, whilst currently serving in the 5th Battalion, Worcestershire Regiment. He served with the 1st Battalion in South Africa during Boer War from 9 November 1901 until 1 April 1903, and subsequently with the Regiment in India. Transferring to the 4th Battalion following the outbreak of the Great War, he served during the Great War at Gallipoli from 25 April 1915, and was killed in action four days later on 29 April 1915. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Helles Memorial, Turkey.
Alfred Pollitt served during the Great War with the 2nd Battalion, East Yorkshire Regiment with the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force from 5 October 1915, before transferring to the Royal Flying Corps and later the Royal Air Force. He transferred to the Reserve on 30 November 1918.
George Price was born in Stroud, Gloucestershire, in 1886 and attested for the Gloucestershire Regiment at Bristol on 4 September 1914. He served during the Great War with the 8th (Service) Battalion on the Western Front from 18 July 1915, and with the Mesopotamia Expeditionary Force from 9 October 1916. He suffered a severe gun shot wound to the left thigh on 4 February 1917, and was invalided to India. Whilst in Bombay he transferred to the South Staffordshire Regiment on 17 February 1917, and served with a Garrison Battalion in India for the rest of the War.
Sold with an East Kent Regiment Permanent Pass, made out to ‘6407 Lce. Corpl. Benge’ and darted 2 July 1903- the recipient was killed in action during the Great War. Sold with copied service papers.
