Battn’ and ‘The Queen’s’, buff leather sweat band and quilted silk lining, no gilt remains on the helmet plate or on most of the fittings otherwise in sound condition

CEYLON LIGHT INFANTRY OFFICER’S GREEN CLOTH HELMET C. 1878-1901, a very scarce example, the skull complete with all silver plated fittings, the frontal plate of crowned star pattern with laurel and Garter overlays, in the centre on a ground of dark green velvet the Prince of Wales’s badge and motto in gilt metal, a silver scroll at the bottom ‘Ceylon Light Infantry’, the cloth band around the skull is of a variable green colour, buff leather sweatband with attached crimson silk lining, the frontal plate possibly original to the helmet, some surface mothing to the left hand centre panel and one moth hole to the rear right panel otherwise very good overall condition
