THE PRINCE OFWALES’SOWN (WEST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT) 1ST VOLUNTEER BATTALION OFFICER’S BLUE CLOTH HELMET C. 1887 - 1901, a good quality example, the blue cloth skull complete with all plated fittings, crowned star frontal plate with laurel and Garter overlays, in the centre on a ground of red cloth the White Horse of Hanover with scroll above ‘Nec Aspera Terrent’, a double scroll at the bottom ‘The West Yorkshire Regiment’ ‘1st Volunteer Battalion’, the plate is original to the helmet, buff leather sweat band with crimson silk lining, small stitching fault to the chin chain lining, very slight buckling to the front peak trim otherwise very good overall condition

2ND CHESHIRE RIFLE VOLUNTEERS (CHESTER) OFFICER’S BLUE CLOTH HELMET C. 1880 -1902, a scarce and fine quality example, the skull complete with all silver plated fittings, the frontal plate of crowned eight pointed star pattern with laurel overlays enclosing a strap ‘2nd Cheshire Rifle Volunteers’, in the centre the Prince of Wales’s badge and motto, buff leather sweatband with attached scarlet silk lining, the sweatband marked in black ink ‘G.W.H.’, the plate is original to the helmet, very good condition
