WHAT’SA TAILGATE PARTY WITHOUT AN NFL PLAYER? The Humane Society of Pinellas scored a touchdown with a special guest for their annual Pirate Pet Fest Super Bowl Pawty in February. Rodney Bailey, Super Bowl XXXIX Champion with the New England Patriots (and a graduate of The Ohio State University), was smitten with this little guy from Lowrider Dachshund Rescue of Florida.

1) Buccaneer Bromley, a Yorkie, was a winner in the costume contest. 2) Ransom, the Newfie, is getting ready to plant a big slobbery kiss on a new friend. 3) Teddy was turned in to Pinellas County Animal Services as a stray during last year’s Hurricane Irma. He was pulled by Humane Society of Pinellas, subsequently adopted and then happily attended the festivities with his new family. 4) A couple of curious Basenjis. There is a Basenjis of Tampa Bay meetup group and a South Florida Basenji meetup group. In Seminole, Camp Basengi rescues, rehabs, retrains and rehomes Basenjis and mixes. Just a year old, he was a natural. 6) Zoe, the Shih Tzu, gives us “the look.” 7) It was windy, but that’s okay, because every day is a good hair day for a Chinese Crested Dog. 8) Bear was pulled from Pet Resource Center (PRC) in Hillsborough County by partner rescue group Maxx & Me. The man who adopted him from PRC ended up owner- surrendering him after “learning” the dog didn’t want to hunt deer with him. (You just can’t make this stuff up.).
