Losses Doc O Lena Twist, a 1988 stal-


lion with lifetime earnings exceeding $123,000, passed away April 19. He was a million-dollar cutting producer, sired champions in several events, and continued to breed mares until 2016. Kenton and Carroll Arnold and daugh- ter, Austria, of Terrell, owned him.


Starkey Smith, 70, DeKalb, died


April 27. He began cutting in 1991 and owned numerous top 10 horses in var- ious classes, including 1993 Open World Champion Show Biz Sandy.


Lee Liles, 67, Sulphur, OK,


passed away on May 11. He began his horse shoeing in 1965 and became the official farrier for world shows for the AQHA, TWHBEA, and APHA. Ther- apeutic shoeing was his specialty. Liles established the National Museum of Horseshoeing Tools and Hall of Honor, which he operated on the fam- ily's Carousel Farms in Sulphur. w
