EDUCATION HIGHLIGHT
Texas A&M Summer Horsemanship Schools Enters Its 46th Year Teaching Texans
The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Summer Horsemanship School program has begun its 46th con- secutive year conducting horsemanship clinics across the state of Texas. These clinics are designed to deliver relevant and helpful information to all levels and ages of horseman. Participants gain valuable riding and horse management knowledge all while having fun and enjoying being horseback.
The Summer Horsemanship School instructors
are TAMU students who are selected through a series of tryouts and then undergo rigorous training during the spring semester to become exceptional horseman and teachers to con- duct clinics across the state. The 2018 instructors and their hometowns are Katie Wright (Southlake, TX), Mariah Murphy (Harrisburg, MO), Hannah Valigura (Austin, TX), Carly Fronckowiak (Venice, FL), Jarrett Haydon (Marble Falls, TX), and Alex Beale (Frisco, TX). Hosting a Summer Horsemanship School is open to any group including, but not lim- ited to, youth, 4-H, and horse clubs in the state of Texas. Two-day and three-day clinics are offered. The hosting group simply picks their most ideal dates in the month of June and the Texas A&M Summer Horsemanship School program provides the instructors to conduct the clinic! More information can be obtained by contacting the program director, Chelsie Huseman at
