Texas A&M University’s equestrian
team celebrated its NCEA Reining National Championship and the entire 2017-2018 sea- son at it annual banquet April 27. Madison Malsch and Courtney Yohey were presented with Aggie Heart Awards. MOP recognition went to Rachael Hake (Eq-OF & Eq-Flat), Avery Ellis (Hsemnshp), and Madison Boh- man (Reining). Rookies of the Year were Car- oline Dance (Hunt-Seat) and Alex Albright (Western). Alex Marlow received the Iron Horse Award.

The Polly Hollar Memorial Bluebonnet
Stakes, held in Brenham, May 4-6, was fun- filled despite hot competition! The high- money-earner buckle was given to Sadie Church riding That Spot O Mine. Kelsey Jor- dan won the Polly Hollar Memorial Scholar- ship, and Chaser Crouch received the Harold Armstrong Inspirational Scholarship. The an- nual egg-and-spoon races were won by youth Lexy Slaughter and adult Tarin Rice. Kudos to the latter for donating his prize money back to the Polly Hollar Scholarship Fund.
Rafter E Productions produced the 1st
annual Central Texas Futurity Classic May 4- 6 at Hamilton’s Circle T Arena. Friday’s big winners included Lacey Harmon (Derby/Just the Way You Are/17.102) and Kassie Mowry (1D/Girls Dig Fame/16.728 and Futurity 1D/Heavens Illuminator/16.810).
CAQHA’s first 2018 performance
horse show was held May 5 in Dripping Springs Ranch Park’s indoor arena. Walk-trot HPs were Alexis Linder (Small-Fry), Emma Sharp (18&U) and Denise Buchoz (19&O). Other HPs included Cheyenne Aikens (Nov), Leah Tate (13&U), Sabine Lazo (14-18), and Jeanette Abbe (19&O).
