4 MW platform’s flexibility wins 72 MW order in Sweden from Stena Renewable AB

Stena Renewable AB has placed a 72 MW

One of the world’s largest solar power company strikes deal

with KEPCO Canadian Solar has completed its sale of 235 megawatt California solar portfolio to Korea Electric Power Corporation. This transaction marks KEPCO's largest investment in the U.S. solar market. KEPCO partnered with the Corporate Partnership Fund, a Korean private equity fund also known as COPA Fund, to make the acquisition. "These high-quality solar assets are

a strategic addition to our renewable energy holdings and will allow us to further diversify our generation portfolio," said Mr. Bong-soo Ha, executive vice president and chief global business officer, KEPCO. "We expect further cooperation

with Canadian Solar and are also pleased to be working with an industry-leading developer like Recurrent Energy as we grow our presence in the attractive U.S. solar market."

Wärtsilä signs 105MW power plant

deal for Bangladesh Wärtsilä has signed a contract to

deliver equipment for a 105 MW power plant being built by Baraka Shikalbaha Power Ltd. This a private sector energy provider and subsidiary of Baraka Group, to be located near the Karnaphuli river in Shikalbaha, Chittagong, in south- eastern Bangladesh. order for two projects in southern Swe- den. Utilising the 4 MW platform’s flexibility, Vestas will deliver 16 V136-3.45 MW turbines with 3.6 MW Power Optimised Mode specifically increased to 3.8 MW for the Kronoberget wind power project, and 3 V136-3.45 MW turbines in 3.6 MW Power Optimised Mode for the Fjällberget wind project. The V136-3.45 MW’s different power modes and the full use of permitted total heights ensure a high capacity factor and maximise energy production at both sites based on the specific wind conditions. Today’s order adds to the V136-3.45 MW turbine’s strong start in Sweden’s low wind market where orders for more than 740 MW to date make Sweden the V136- 3.45 MW’s largest market globally. “Stena and Vestas have a strong and long relationship that goes back more

than ten years. Vestas has proven to deliver high availability in our operating assets, which is the result of high quality products and strong performance in the daily operations. To be able to realise projects in today’s demanding market you need to deliver the right product at the right price together with a long term availability. Vestas delivers all that with its modern technology in the V136-3.45 MW turbine and the available Power Optimised Modes. We look forward to continue our strong relationship in the Kronoberget and Fjällberget projects”, says Peter Zachrisson, CEO Stena Renewable AB. Nils de Baar, President of Vestas

Northern and Central Europe, adds: “We are delighted to continue to strengthen our close relationship with Stena Renewable by delivering world-class turbine solutions.”

€1 million now raised for solar energy project €1 million has been raised in less than a

month by the world’s largest crowd- investment platform for off-grid solar energy. A crowdfunding initiative between TRINE, a platform for sustainable invest- ments to accelerate energy access, and BBOXX, a next generation utility deploying off-grid solar systems in the developing world, the response has impressed most market observers. TRINE and BBOXX launched its first of six crowdfunding rounds on 10th February, 2018. The €1 million target was hit on 9th March, making it the fastest fundraise of debt finance ever in the industry.

The loan will be disbursed at the begin- ning of April and enable BBOXX to scale up its operations in Kenya.

Crowd-investors can invest as little as €25 on TRINE’s platform (www.jointrine.com) to bring clean energy where it is needed the most. Around 1,500 individuals across Europe have already invested via TRINE and it is expected this number will grow as new fundraising activity commences over the coming months.
