J Jersey City Kids Run For Charity
C Kids Run 2018, the fourth annual fun and healthy event in Jersey City for children up to 10 years old, will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., June 2, at J. Owen Grundy Park, in Jersey City. Te course runs along the Hudson River, with views of the Man- hattan skyline. Te event is held for the benefit of the Embrace Kids Foun-
dation to improve the quality of life for children with cancer, sickle cell and other serious disorders while having fun with our little ones. In addition to the kids run, there will be a wide variety of activities for children of
all ages at Exchange Place. Participants receive a T-shirt, a medal and a certificate. Te fastest runners in each age group will be awarded.

JC Fitness Fair Combines Fitness and Health T
he third annual JC Fitness Fair, will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., May 19, at the Harborside Financial
Center Platform, in Jersey City. Tis is an opportunity to meet local fitness professionals and find the perfect work- out or reignite interest in an old favorite. Get your workout in and get valuable information on health and nutrition. Tis year’s fair is also an opportunity for partici-
pants to put their skills to the test in one or more fitness competitions including burpees, dead-weightliſting, planking, squatting or jumping jacks. Tere will be dem- onstrations, product samples, raffles and free passes, too.

Mother’s Day Hike to the Women’s Monument
istorical interpreter Eric Nelsen will continue an annual tradition of a special Mother’s Day
Hike along the summit of the Palisades at 11 a.m., May 13, meeting at the Alpine Headquarters for the Palisades Interstate Park in New Jersey (acces- sible from PIP Exit 2). Te relatively easy hike will cover about four
miles in around two hours. Te destination and turnaround point will be a 1929 trailside monu- ment honoring the crucial role that the New Jersey Women’s Clubs played in preserving the Palisades and creating the Interstate Park. On the western shore of the Hudson River, in northeastern New Jersey, are more
than 100,000 acres of parks and historic sites that the Palisades Interstate Park Com- mission manages. Te two states formed the commission in 1900 to stop the destruc- tion of the Palisades by stone quarries, which were blasting the famous cliffs for crushed stone.
