ay is the month to celebrate that most important person in our life, our mother. With little giſts and special gestures, we make an effort to let mom know
how much we care about her. Perhaps the most thoughtful thing we can do for mom in May to warm her heart is to spend some extra time with her. Tere are a number of events and happenings in the area
this month that offer an opportunity to create some special memories.
Saturday, May 5
Home Depot Windmill Planter for Mother’s Day – 9 a.m. to noon. A hands-on workshop where children can build a model windmill that holds a seasonal flower or low-maintenance herb in time for Mother’s Day. Once the planter is built, the child can decorate it with paint and stickers. Children receive a cer- tificate of achievement, a workshop apron and a commemora- tive pin. Hudson Table Mommy and Me: Mother’s Day Brunch – 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Make a flower cookie bouquet and a fruit and vegetable pressed card for mom. Ten make mini-pancake and fruit skewers for brunch together. Intended for ages 2-4.

Lost Sock Day, A Celebration – 6 to 7 p.m. Kids create a sock puppet to put on a special show for Mother’s Day, or bring in a clean tube sock to make a sock puppet.

Sunday, May 13 Mother’s Day Hike to the Women’s Monument
Historical interpreter Eric Nelsen will continue an annual tra- dition of a special Mother’s Day Hike along the summit of the Palisades, meeting at 11 a.m. at the Alpine Headquarters for the Palisades Interstate Park in New Jersey, accessible from PIP exit two. Te relatively easy hike will cover about four miles in around tw hours. Te destination and turn-around point is a 1929 trailside monument honoring the crucial role that the New Jersey Women’s Clubs played in preserving the Palisades and creating the Interstate Park.

Mother’s Day Brunch Cruise – Boarding 11:30 a.m., cruising from noon to 2 p.m. Treat mom to something special, a day on the Hudson full of festivities and fun aboard the Spirit of New Jersey.
