Focus on Addiction NI services: Help for over 55s addiction nI has years of expertise in working with older people affected by alcohol or drug use. Many people think that it is too late for an older person to change their drinking or drug use, including misuse of prescription medication. addiction nI has found that this is often not the case. addiction nI’s older focus Service is tailored to meet the needs of older people and has been developed in consultation with older people. Some of the special features of this service are: • treatment sessions delivered in the older person’s home • counselling staff with specific knowledge of older people’s needs • Involvement of the wider family in some cases

addiction nI’s staff on this project also have knowledge of other services available to older people. they can signpost clients to opportunities to meet other people in their community and also work with residential homes and sheltered housing schemes. addiction nI have a health professional referral form available to download from their website addictionni.com/how we help

UCA marks end of three-year charity partnership with Age NI age nI has thanked Uca for the support it has received in the last three years. Since 2015, the passion and enthusiasm shown by Uca supporters and community pharmacies has helped to raise £36,000 for age nI – vital funds that will go a long way to helping the charity continue its work for older people in local towns and villages.

Celebrating three years of UCA support are Siobhan Casey, Cliff McElhinney, Adrienne Clugston and Rozi Cole.

‘We are extremely grateful for everyone at the Uca and community pharmacies for their help and support,’ said Siobhan casey, age nI, director of Marketing and Business development, ‘from sharing information about the age nI advice service, to lending their support to our ‘no one should have no one campaign’, to their staff teams taking part in running, abseiling and firewalking events to help raise funds to ensure older people love later life.’
