IT IS never too late to make a fresh start by taking up new activities or making new friends. The many clubs and organisations in the Malling Action Partnership area cater for a wide range of in- terests and offer a warm welcome to newcomers, so why not give them a try? Monday April 2
Garden Open Day at Mere House Andrew and Tessa Wells welcome their neighbours to their garden at Mere House, Mereworth, which they will open in aid of the National Gardens Scheme and the many medical charities it supports, between 2- 5 p.m. Admission £5, children free; dogs on leads. Tea and coffee with home-made cakes will be for sale in aid of the maintenance of St Lawrence’s Church, Mereworth.
Tuesday April 3 & Thursday April 12 Easter Holiday Activity. Pottery workshop at Aylesford Pottery. Suitable for 8-16 year olds. Try out the potter’s wheel as well as using the hand building technique to create your own design. Thursday April 5 A Tonbridge and Malling Ramblers walk from Birling Church to Paddlesworth, North Downs Way, Cleggett Farm. A leisurely five- mile circular walk starting at 10am at Birling Church. Dogs on leads. Nibble break. Pub at end. Contact Carole on 07742 594510

Needlework and knitting group meet on the sec- ond Tuesday of every month from 7.30-9.30pm at St Thomas Moore Church, West Malling in the Church porch. Materials and equipment will be provided but please feel free to bring anything you wish. All are welcome on the evening or call Chris on 01732 841522 for further details.
Wednesday April 11 West Malling Baptist Church Coffee Mornings. Meets every second Wednesday of the month in the church from 9-11.30am. Enjoy a chat, cup of tea or coffee, and delicious home-made cakes in a friendly atmosphere. All donations that are received go to a different charity each month.
Thursday April 12 Easter Holiday Activity. Bushcraft at Leybourne Lakes Country Park. Suitable for 8-16 year olds. The session will include learning how to build a safe fire and how to make your own waterproof shelters using the woodland materials around

Saturday April 14 Offham Farmers’ market is held at Spadework Nursery in Teston Road, Offham, from 10am to 1pm. The market is growing and currently has around 30 stalls selling home grown and local fruit and vegetables, fresh fish, meat, game, cheese, bread and cakes, vegan and vegetarian food.
Sunday April 15 West Malling Community Choir Spring Concert. This is in St Mary’s Church in West Malling with The Maidstone Singers. 5.00pm. Tickets from any choir member or on the door.
Sunday April 22 West Malling Farmers Market, held in the High Street from 9.30am to 1.30pm.
Sunday April 22 & May 27 The Twitch Heritage Centre, Douce’s Manor, St. Leonard’s Street, will be open from noon to 4pm (last admission 3.30pm) please note revised opening hours and help the volun- teers by vacating the centre by 4pm. Douce’s Manor is a private residence, the house and grounds are not open to the public. Parking on St. Leonard’s Street.

East Malling Women’s Institute meets at the East Malling Institute behind the King and Queen pub on the third Monday of every month, 7.45pm to 9.45pm.
LeyARA meets on the second Thursday of the month at 2pm at the Leybourne Village Hall. Speaker, raffle and refreshments.
Crafty Chin-waggers. Craft and chat meeting on the third Tuesday of the month. 19:30 to 23:00 in the Village Hall, Butchers Lane, Mereworth.
Craft and chat group Drop-in. Wednesdays, 10am to noon, East Malling Centre.
Malling Art Society meets every Thursday at Offham village hall, 8pm to 10pm.
Malling District U3A Monthly meetings are held at Ryarsh village hall, starting at 2pm, on the fourth Tuesday of the month throughout the year.
Baby and toddler group meets every Wednesday at St James the Great, East Malling. Lots of fun for all children and
Mereworth church children’s choir meets every Wednesday. The children’s choir is a free after- school group which rehearses at 6.30pm. Parents welcome. Conductor: Stephen Thomas, 01732 321114. Y1 and up – no need to pre-book.
Addington Bridge Club meets every Tuesday from 7pm in the sports pavilion, Park Road.
Junior parkrun The Manor Park, West Malling, Junior parkrun starts at 9am with a series of 2k runs for children aged four to 14, every Sunday.
Adult 5k runs Leybourne Lakes Country Park, Larkfield. Adult 5k runs are held every Saturday, starting at 9am. The runs are free of charge. Register your details at:
