Although it is agreed upon that mind-

fulness involves managing one’s focus of attention, there are many theories surround- ing which way is most effective for a solid writing practice. Some teachers suggest directing attention to external stimuli while others suggest directing attention to the internal processes of thoughts, feelings, and sensations. Some would even emphasize being open and receptive to all stimuli that enters our awareness, whether internal or ex- ternal. These are just a few examples of ways to practice and each distinction in approach can be traced to different ancient meditative traditions. In my opinion, every approach holds value for anyone wanting to explore a writing practice. Writing is an invitation for us to pay attention, to explore our perspec- tives, to contemplate and capture our experi- ences, and to honor them by giving them life. Perhaps you should RSVP.

“Those of us who teach – really teach

– know that our only task is this: to prepare a place, to welcome, to receive, and to encourage.” – Pat Schneider

DIVINE CONNECTION

I see, You are all. A soft wind blowing, a whisper in my ear. The telling of a story; without You, I can’t hear. Hold me in Your Light, without You, I can’t feel. Let’s dig into the wounds that time could never heal. All I see, are You. A star that is bursting, setting my heart free. A twinkle in my eye, without You, wouldn’t be. A flower in the garden, a comfort to my nose, reminding me to breathe… as the soft wind blows.
