The T6 Electrical Tester is not just a Fluke product, says company
Fluke T6 Electrical Testers with FieldSense Technology allow electricians to measure - not just detect - voltage and current without test leads. Troubleshooting electrical systems can be time- consuming and potentially dangerous because it requires access to metallic contact points. The new Fluke® T6 Electrical Testers with FieldSense Technology make troubleshooting safer and more efficient by allowing electricians to take simultane- ous voltage and current mea- surements, not just detection, without test leads. Double Under Voltage Monitoring Relay for Hazardous Environments From Carlo Gavazzi
Carlo Gavazzi has launched its DUB72 double under voltage relay for Class 1 Division 2 applications according to ANSI/ISA12.12.1 Norm for potentially explosive environments. The user can set two independent dials, one for each of the 2 thresholds, measuring the level of its power supply. One of the thresholds, the one associated with output 1, can be used as a pre-alarm signal; the other is associated with a high-power 20A-rated relay which can be used to drive the load directly and features a low-profile DIN housing suitable for installation into electric distribution panels as well as industrial cabinets. Thanks to the high powered electromechanical 20 A relay, the second threshold / relay can be used to directly disconnect the battery or load. The two relay outputs, can be associated to one of the set thresholds, and can be used to drive different types of
loads. The 3A can be used to send a signal to a PLC while the 20A, thanks to its high capacity, could directly drive the load. A green/red LED provides a visual indication of the alarm status. The number of RED blinks indicates the triggered alarm type. The PCB tropicalisation increases operational reliability also in humid and dusty environments. As the DUB72 complies
with the hazardous location installation norm, it is suitable for 24V-battery-volt- age level monitoring, or any other DC voltage within the operating range of 16vdc to 26 v dc, in any environment including Class 1, Division 2 of potentially explosive envi- ronments. It is suitable for applications where it is necessary to monitor the bat- tery charge level in oil & gas installations.

Analysis made easy by Megger
T
he new MPQ1000 three-phase power quality analyser from Megger combines an exceptionally wide range of functions
with automatic features that make it easy even for inexperienced users to obtain accurate and reliable results. Designed primarily to meet the needs of electrical contractors, the MPQ1000 is a compact handheld instrument with an integral colour display that offers both oscilloscope and DMM (digital multimeter) operating modes. To ensure that it can deliver results that conform with standards
such as IEC 50160 and Engineering Recommendation G5/4, the MPQ1000 provides Class A accuracy on all of the parameters it measures. These parameters include RMS voltage and current, demand data, phase angle, total harmonic distortion, total demand distortion, transients down to 1µS, unbalance, flicker and many more. Parameters can be monitored and viewed in real time, or recorded for later analysis using the instrument’s large internal memory. A key feature is that analysis of recorded data can be carried out
by the instrument itself, allowing results to be examined before leaving the site. If required, the data can also be transferred to a PC for archiving or for more detailed analysis with Megger’s powerful PQ power quality analysis software. For maximum ease of use and to guarantee dependable results, the innovative MPQ1000 offers automatic CT recognition and automatic connection verification, which guards against failed recordings. Other important features include easy memory expansion with standard SD cards to extend recording time and capacity, and the ability measure up to 1,000 V AC and DC without the need for additional equipment, which is particularly useful when working on renewable energy systems. The Megger MPQ1000 handheld power quality analyser has four
ABB launches new EQ A44 energy meter range for 690V motors and other applications
With a clear focus on reducing costs and improving efficiency ABB has introduced an energy meter range that satisfies the requirements of 690 V motors and other applications in the same voltage range. As the use of 690 V energy efficient motors continues
ABB’s EQ A44 unit
to grow within industrial applications, ABB has launched its new range of EQ A44 three phase 690 V high- functionality electricity meters, which deliver outstanding performance for the reliable metering of energy usage. ABB’s EQ A44 552-110 or A44 553-110 meters can be easily installed without the need for additional voltage transformers, which reduces purchase and installation costs. Delivering cost savings of up to three times the purchase price of 690 V instrument transformers, the range is economical thanks to a lower power consumption of less than 2.2 VA. Mats Karlberg, product manager for electricity meters,
from ABB said: “We’re proud to bring the only energy meters that satisfy the requirements of 690 V applications to the market. When we invest in developing new products, we always have the end-user in mind. We focus on how we can design the most sophisticated solutions that deliver outstanding results, while cutting costs and making life easier for our customers.” Removing the need for voltage transformers in 690 V installation, the new single device allows for
faster wiring and fewer settings. Profitability is enhanced because fewer components are needed to deliver the same functions as traditional voltage transformer meters. EQ A44 is available in a wide range of voltages, from 57.7 to 500 or 100 to 690V phase to phase and is
suitable for use in a variety of temperatures. It can be used in three or four wire installations, making it easier to install new meters or retrofit older versions. Both models fit standard DIN Rail enclosures, making them compact and easy to locate and provide easy access to energy efficiency data which supports ISO 50 001 certification. The use of a RS-485 or M-Bus interface improves communication. Other enhanced features include a
range of 25 alarm functions and an easy to read pixel oriented back light display, which shows up to four data items at the same time. A sealable transparent lid also protects against unauthorized usage. The new 690 V meters are suitable for use in a wide range of applications including wind turbines, water and waste water management.

voltage and four current inputs. It can be powered either from a 120/240 V mains supply, or from an internal NiMH battery pack that gives up to eight hours of continuous operation when fully charged. The instrument features robust construction and has an IP54 ingress protection rating. It has a CAT IV 600 V safety rating in line with IEC 61010, which makes it suitable for use on all areas of low- voltage electrical installations.
