Garden partnerships in full bloom for Marie Curie

As the daffodils burst into life this spring, and the UK starts turning yellow, Marie Curie is getting ready for this year’s Great Daffodil Appeal.

T

his March, Wyevale Garden Centres and National Garden Scheme are supporting Marie Curie and the Great Daffodil Appeal by selling daffodils

and opening beautiful spring gardens. Wyevale Garden Centres will be raising

money for the Great Daffodil Appeal by selling fresh cut and potted daffodils – perfect for adding a splash of sunshine to your home or garden. Marie Curie will also be celebrating four

years of charity partnership with Wyevale Garden Centres in March. In this time, it has raised more than £1.7 million for the charity.

Fundraising efforts Lindsay Palmer, Charity Champion at the Podington branch, said: “We take great pride in fundraising on behalf of this wonderful charity that helps so many people who are diagnosed with a terminal illness, offering understanding, support and much needed respite care.” Marie Curie’s Executive Director of Fundraising and Engagement, Meredith

Niles, expressed heartfelt thanks for their fundraising efforts: “We are overwhelmed by the total amount raised for Marie Curie so far, and extremely grateful for the continued support from Wyevale Garden Centres colleagues and customers.”

Get into the springtime spirit Also this spring, National Garden Scheme is welcoming visitors to gardens across England and Wales, such as Cissbury in West Sussex and Fonthill House in Wiltshire, where the public can enjoy stunning displays of spring flowers. Money raised through the entrance donation is split between National Garden Scheme’s beneficiary charities – in 2017, it donated £500,000 to Marie Curie.

So if you’re looking for fresh air, a riot

of colour, and the scent of spring, you can support Marie Curie with a day out strolling through drifts of daffodils in some of the UK’s most scenic gardens. If you want to encourage birds to flock

to your own garden this spring, look out for the gorgeous range of daffodil- themed bird feeders (pictured) and bird baths created by our partners Gardman. They are available in Wyevale Garden Centres, and other stockists, with all proceeds going to Marie Curie.

There are plenty of ways to get involved with this year’s Great Daffodil Appeal – whether or not you’re a gardening enthusiast! See page 4 for two brand new fundraising ideas and turn to page 14 for details of this year’s marketing campaign.
