and commitment Marie Curie’s first ever People Awards
Last summer, Marie Curie launched its People Awards, an opportunity to recognise colleagues and volunteers who exemplify the charity’s values. In total, 161 individuals and 56 teams received nominations for 40 awards, with the winners announced at a ceremony in London in December. Brian O’Donoghue, Marie Curie’s Head of HR, said: “The awards clearly demonstrated what a wealth of talent and commitment we have throughout Marie Curie. Warmest congratulations to all our winners and nominees. “The awards were without doubt
a resounding success and we will be running them again this year, so get thinking about who you will nominate for living our values!”
The Mid Argyll Fundraising Group won a Team award.
The volunteers have raised over £60,000 over four years and are passionate Marie Curie ambassadors. In a very rural area, they have ensured their campaigns are accessible to everyone, providing much needed support to their Community Fundraiser, who is based 90 miles away.
Maurice Long won in the Leading Marion Logan, Administrator Supervisor, who
won a Making Things Happen award. Marion, known as Maz, received four nominations and was described as the ‘go-to person for everything’, an ‘invaluable’ team member and ‘excellent problem- solver’ who always has a smile on her face.
in our Field category. Maurice was already a Community Fundraising volunteer when Marie Curie asked him to become a volunteer shop auditor. Maurice’s nomination described how he picked up the expertise for auditing extremely quickly and now completes shop audits professionally and efficiently, ‘helping the local Marie Curie shops to operate in the best possible way’.
