Neelam joined Marie Curie in November as Caring Services Communications Lead. Her role focuses on helping members of the Caring Services directorate communicate what they’re working on.
Which three qualities have helped you succeed in your career? Being creative, approachable and a good listener.
What would be your perfect day away from work? Somewhere tropical, sitting on a beach and drinking a Bahama Mamma cocktail with my friends and family.
If you could do any other job for just one day, what would it be? I’d be a wedding planner. It would be a lot of fun to help couples to plan and realise their dream wedding day. Learning about the different wedding traditions would also be interesting.
What is your most treasured possession? My two nieces – they are my favourite little people!
Which five people, alive or dead, would you like to invite to dinner?
• Barack Obama – he’s so inspirational
• King Louis XIV of France – he had such an interesting life, becoming a
king at age four, made Versailles his royal seat and transformed the lodge into a beautiful palace with wonderful gardens
• Lord Sugar – he has a good business mind I’d like to pick
•2Pac – a great lyricist and another mind I’d like to delve into.
• Diana Ross – I grew up with her music as my mum is a big fan

A tea-riffic team!
Dorothy Gray and Ella Ferguson have been volunteering together for 17 years, serving teas on the wards of the Marie Curie Hospice, Belfast. They retired at the end of last year and say they will miss “the company,
the craic and spending time getting to know patients and their families”. However, they’ve no plans to be resting on their laurels. Dorothy is busy with choir and Ella plans to join an aerobics class!
Olivia’s £1,000 haircut
Nine-year-old Olivia Grace cut her hair to raise almost £1,000 for Marie Curie, in memory of her honorary godfather Maurice, who died last year. She also donated 12 inches of hair to the
Little Princess Trust, a charity which makes wigs for children who have lost their hair through cancer treatment or other illnesses. When Olivia’s mum Viv tweeted about her
haircut, she received hundreds of messages of support from people, including some celebrities – Olivia’s favourite message was from the astronaut Tim Peake!
