heDanceCouncil ofNorth Texas has paired upwith theCity of Plano to provide free dance lessons at Plano’s newest venue, McCall Plaza. The programkicked off in 2017with an initial


offering of free dance classes led by professional dancers,Nadia Dosal, LisaHolt and Israel Peña,while covering awide range of styles including Salsa,Bachata and Swing.MichelleHawkins,Arts, Culture andHeritageManager for theCity of Plano said the idea to partnerwith theDanceCouncil stemmed froman interest to “use the space and reach the community in a newway.” She believes that offering free, family-friendly, outdoor dance classes is a great way to drawthe community together. The Vitruvian Salsa festival,


which draws thousands upon thousands of visitors everyAugust to Vitruvian Park inAddison for free Salsa lessons, serves as a prime example of the effectiveness of programs like these. Similarly, McCall Plaza in Plano has limitless potential as it is conveniently located among the various bars and shops in the area,while being strategically locatedwithin immediatewalking distance of the downtown PlanoDART station.
