BESPOKE Outdoor Spaces - BOS – is a local company with many awards for their landscape gardening from Chelsea Flower Show, The RHS, Tatton Park and many more both in the UK, Japan and New Zealand. Started by Jody Lidgard the
business has grown delivering high quality gardens at a very reasonable price. Spring will soon be here, and
we will all be looking at our gar- dens with trepidation and a sigh, as we start the annual battle with weeds, tired grass, and boarders
that will need renewing. It may be that the garden is
now too difficult to manage as it is but you’re not sure what you want to do. Bespoke Outdoor spaces are
offering a special consultation at £90 including VAT to discuss possibilities with you. Should you wish to take up the offer we will redeem the consultation fee from the cost of the new garden. This offer could be a gift for
an Anniversary, Wedding pres- ent, Special Birthday or just because you want a change.
ON Saturday 13th January the local Branch of the RAF Asso- ciation (RAFA), held their Annual Christmas and New Year Luncheon at The Wherry Inn, Geldeston. The Branch Presi- dent Brian Vousden commented “ Our usual Annual celebration was a great success and thor- oughly enjoyed by all our mem- bers. Good companionship and excellent food and service by the staff at The Wherry, was enhanced by the presentation of an Award Certificate to our Life
Planning for a Wedding
ONCE you and your partner have decided to marry, you should really start planning your wedding day! As a guide, it is probably best to allow at least twelve to eighteen months in order to get everything sorted. If you have a particular
date in mind, check that your venue is available as soon as possible. For a church wedding you
will need to discuss with the Rector the reading of the Banns - if you and your partner
live in different parishes, they will need to be read out in both places of worship. The Banns, a public announcement of your intention to be married, will then be read out in both churches on three consecutive Sundays. It is on these occasions that the Rector will ask the assembled congregation whether they know of any reason why you should not be married on completion of the reading of the Banns. If you are planning a church
wedding, the Rector will discuss the service with you and you may like to select favourite hymns or decide whether you wish for a choir at the ceremony or bells to be rung. For a Register Office service,
you will have to give Notice of Marriage to the register office of the district in which you live. Valid for twelve months, the notice must be given in
person by one of you. The Marriage Act 1994 also allows you to be married in a venue such as a stately home or hotel licensed by a Local Authority to hold Civil Marriages. Once the date and venue of
the wedding have been booked, it is most important to book the reception. You should draw up a rough list of guests, so that an idea of numbers can be as certained. Many larger venues have a printed “Wedding Package” brochure which will give details of individual menu choices - either buffet or sit down hot meals and costs per head as well as other services they may offer such as a honeymoon suite, toastmaster, band etc. Start discussing your bouquets,
head-dresses,
buttonholes and flowers for the church and reception with your florist as soon as
possible, finalising your exact requirements nearer the day. Fresh or silk flowers may be chosen to match your colour scheme. Wedding cakes often take a
few months to mature, so you should soon decide who you would like to make your cake. Discuss design, shape, content etc with them. One of the most important

things for the bride to do is to choose the dress. It may take several months to find the “perfect” outfit, you need to find something you feel comfortable and confident wearing. Outfits for the groom, best man, bridesmaid(s) and page boy(s) also need to be considered. These may be bought, but it is also possible to hire these to save on expense. Your wedding album photographs should be a wonderful reminder of your special day. Book a photographer and discuss your requirements. You could perhaps give them a list of photographs you want taken on the day, most photographers have the experience to know what is required, but you should let them know any special requests. Choose your wedding rings
from a reputable jeweller. There is a large choice of designs available - platinum, white gold and rings that combine both yellow and white gold. Remember to buy your gifts for the best man, ushers and attendants.

JANUARY 2018 Prospective brides should
visit their hairdresser to discuss the style for the wedding day. You will need to decide whether you are wearing a tiara or veil and find a hairstyle that will hold its shape throughout the day. Your hairdresser may be able to do your hair in the comfort of your own home on the morning of the wedding. If required, beauticians should also be booked for your make- up and manicure. Invitations should be ordered
as soon as the date and venue have been confirmed. These should be sent out to invited guests at least six weeks before the wedding day. It is usual for the invitations to be sent out by the bride’s parents and for the replies to be returned to them in due course. Guests will soon start
asking you for a gift list, so it is important and helpful if this is compiled a few months before the wedding. To prevent duplicate gifts, it is possible to choose a gift list from a given company - the gift list company will then tick gifts off as they are ordered. Most of the important aspects of the day have now been covered - but there is still the honeymoon to book! When it comes to arranging where you want to spend your honeymoon, talk to the travel agent about what you are looking for - destination, quality of accommodation and facilities. Having made your choice, don’t forget to take your marriage certificate with you, as many hotels, on learning that you are on your honeymoon, may offer you an upgrade of room. In our editorial, we have detailed some of the more important points to be considered and hope that anyone planning a wedding will find our suggestions useful.
