Waveney Memorial Park

WAVENEY Memorial Park & Crematorium at Ellough, near Beccles opened in November 2015 to serve the local commu- nity and its needs. Tt has been a very welcome addition to the areas and looked after hundreds of families in the most difficult of times. It is proud to be associated

with over 40 local funeral direc- tors thus affording the bereaved families in the Waveney Valley, Suffolk Coastal Areas & South Norfolk unrivalled levels of ser- vice. The crematorium itself is a contemporary building and set in acres of beautiful grounds with ponds, water features and memorial gardens. The chapel is light and bright and fitted with Wesley, a media system that offers webcast, live streaming, plasma screens for photo dedica-

tions/eulogies as well as thou- sands of music choices. This, along with the air-conditioned chapel, makes it unique as through Wesley they can make every service individual and tai- lored to the families wishes. This facility is owned and

operated by Memoria, a compa- ny that lives up to its mission statement in “providing excep- tional standards of service and facility to the bereaved families that use its crematoria and gar- dens of remembrance. This is because it is not only commer- cially sensible to do so, but also because it is an essential act of human decency towards people who have just lost a much-loved member of their family or friend. Bereavement is the price we must all pay for the joy of loving and being loved. The loss of a

loved one is the most stressful, unhappy and traumatic experi- ence that we will face in life. We at Memoria realise that we

are unable to eradicate such pain, but we also know it is our responsibility and duty to be as efficient, kind, respectful and polite as humanly possible to our clients at their time of grief, and thereafter when they return to remember their cherished rela- tives or friends. Therefore, it is our aim to provide immaculately clean and tidy facilities in tran- quil and beautiful surroundings attended by people who are sin- cerely dedicated to our mission, and who take a great pride in their work as a result.” Howard Hodgson

THE range of extra-curricular opportunities and the high quality of learning within the three facul- ties is what makes our school so special and I would like to thank the staff who lead in these areas and, of course, our super students who engage so enthusiastically with them. We have a busy term ahead of us as we move forward with our plans to form a Federa- tion with Harleston Primary School and are already excited about the further opportunities this will present to our communi- ty. There will be an informal drop- in session for anyone to find out more and ask relevant questions of the governing body and head teacher of each school on January 23rd from 2pm – 2.45pm and 6.30pm – 7.30pm at St Johns Church, Broad Street, Harleston. Bungay High School News

THE annual Bungay High School Winter Concert took place on Thursday 7th December. In December, two of our stu-

dents, represented the school in the Future Chef Competition. Thirty two Year 6 students

from local Primary Schools attended Bungay High School to take part in this year’s Christmas Maths Challenge event. The Autumn Term ended with

our traditional and highly popu- lar ‘Pop Mime’ event. A wide range of musical acts were enjoyed by two audiences in two separate performances. The standards were very high this year and audiences were treated to great performances from bands and soloists. 6th Form Prefects and Year 11 House Cap- tains judged the acts in what was a closely fought competition. The winners of each of the two performances were Ella Thomp- son-Ives and June Cabagnot. Runners up were ….. The Bungay High School U15

Rugby team are County Cham- pions! They represented the school in the final at Ipswich Rugby Club against teams from Farlingaye and St Benedict’s High Schools. The Bungay team started strongly in their first fixture against Farlingaye producing some dominant for- ward play complemented by good handling and swift running

in the back line to win comfort- ably 35 -5. In the second fixture against St Benedict’s, Bungay were faced with a team who had clearly worked on strategies that combated and disrupted the game plan of moving the ball wide. Consequently the Bungay team found themselves under pressure in a tense and frustrat- ing game. In the final few min- utes, Bungay needed to score twice in order to win and the effort which followed can only be described as ‘Herculean’! As a result, Bungay won 19 - 14 after two late tries. The entire team should be commended on their performance in both fix- tures but the following players deserve special mention: Riley Hatcher, Harvey Sayer, Archie Taylor and Cameron Brodie Etheridge.
