IT IS never too late to make a fresh start by taking up new activities or making new friends. The many clubs and organi- sations in the Malling Action Partnership area cater for a wide range of interests and offer a warm welcome to newcomers, so why not give them a try? Larkfield Knitting and Craft Group will be meeting every Tuesday afternoon from January 16, 2pm to 3.30pm at the Sycamore Tree Centre, Larkfield Methodist Church. The group is open to all who love to knit, want to learn to knit, or have any other craft they wish to share over a cup of coffee or tea and a chat. West Malling Farmers Market will be on Sunday January 28 from 9.30am to 1.30pm in West Malling High Street, and again on Sunday February 25.
Boogie Woogie Gals, a fundraising event for the Rotary Club of Malling, is being held at Borough Green Village Hall on Saturday February 3. Doors open at 7pm, with entertainment from 7.30pm. Tickets are £20 with all profits going to local charities. They are available from

Discover The Valley. Enjoy a series of leisurely circular walks through the picturesque Medway Valley under the guidance of a countryside officer. Meet at 10am at Teston Country Park on Wednesday February 7 for the three-hour walk. The adult-only walks are at a leisurely

Teston’s Sewing Bee will meet on Saturday February 10, Saturday March 10 and Saturday April 14. If you are interested in sewing, knitting, crochet or embroidery this is for you. You can take your own sewing machine and be guided in using it. Refreshments are provided. There is a minimal charge towards the hire of the hall. For more details call Valerie on 01622 812948.
Offham Parish Council’s Race Night is being held on Saturday February 17 in the Village Hall, 7.15pm for a 7.30pm start. Tickets are £10 each, which includes a fish and chip supper; bring your own drinks. The race night is with pull along horses – 36 village jockeys are required. Numbers are limited to just 100 tickets, which can be bought from Wendy Williams on 01732 841501 or by emailing

What the Romans did for us in Kent is the topic at The Malling Society’s meeting on Tuesday March 13. Kevin Fromington will be giving an illustrated talk on the Roman villas along the River Darent from Otford to Dartford.
The meeting is at 8pm at West Malling CE Primary School.
ACT-i-Fit after-school activity club meets every Tuesday for children aged 5-11. Youngsters can join in with some fun physical activity and games, from 3.15pm to 4.15pm at the East Malling Centre, Chapman Way.
Larkfield Active Retirement Association (LARA) meets at Larkfield Village Hall on the third Friday of every month from 2pm to 4.30pm. There is entertainment, raffle and refreshments on offer along with 17 activities for you to choose to take part in. Short Mat Bowls is being held by LARA three afternoons a week at East Malling Village Hall. Meetings are every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 1.30pm until 4pm. No experience is necessary and there is a training mat open for beginners at the Monday meeting. The cost is £1.50 for LARA members, and £2 for non- members. Malling Art Society meets every Thursday at Offham village hall, 8pm to 10pm.
Malling District U3A Monthly meetings are held at Ryarsh village hall, starting at 2pm, on the fourth Tuesday of the month throughout the year.
Baby and toddler group meets every Wednesday at St James the Great, East
Malling. Lots of fun for all children and babies. Starts at 1.30pm.

Junior ParkRun The Manor Park, West Malling, Junior ParkRun starts at 9am with a series of 2k runs for children aged four to14, every Sunday.
