Calling All Youth We know you are out
Arabian Horse Association of Eastern Canada News AHAEC’S Annual Meeting and
there enjoying the Arabian horse—be it quiet moments at home or competing at our club shows and up to the elite level.
Make sure you are a
member and enjoy some of the club’s benefits. You might be centre stage at AHAEC’s Annual Banquet and recog- nized as a High Point Winner! Or, you might be a tal-
ented artist and would like to have your pictures or photos displayed in the club’s e- newsletter or on the club’s website. AHAEC wants to recog-
nize what you share with your horse. Send us your informa- tion from your barn or the sta- ble your board at, maybe you ride out on the trail, or maybe compete on the open circuit,
or what about at lead line, or list the responsibilities you have at the barn. Do your school friends
know you own a horse? What do they think about that? Do you encourage non-horse owners to come to your barn to visit with your horse? Do you play tag with
your horse? Have you taught your horse any tricks? Take a moment &and tell or show us!
Region 18
Championship Show – 2018
The Regional Champi-
onship Show has been held at the Agriplex in London for the past number of years. However, due to the facility’s current construction timeline, the Agriplex will not be avail- able in 2018.
Are there other equine
facilities available that the show could move to? Are these facilities financially fea- sible—remember, the show operates with approximately 50 horses? Facilities reviewed have
been Ancaster and Palgrave. The regional show dates
have to be submitted to AHA by their convention (mid- Nov). Will dates be submitted anticipating a “new home” to be found shortly?
AHAEC 2018 Clinic and Show—There has been dis- cussion on FB regarding a spring clinic—great idea with a qualified clinician, but would it be supported? The spring show held this year was a good success—should it be repeated?

Help a horse in need this holiday season by giving a gift that gives back
Stouffville, ON (November 23, 2017) – Equestrians holding a fes- tive barn party or exchanging gifts with their riding friends this holiday season can help an abused, neglected or homeless horse by giving a gift from the Ontario SPCA’s Paws & Give™ 2017 Holiday Symbolic Giving Catalogue. Horse lovers can “adopt” their very own horse by bring-
ing home Velvet, one of the animals featured in the Rocky & Friends line of plush collectables. Velvet was pregnant when she was surrendered to the Ontario SPCA. This Connemara Pony spent a few months in foster care before she gave birth to a filly, Chantilly Lace, in her new forever home. Velvet now spends her days as a member of an equine assisted ther- apy team in Huntsville. When you give this plush toy as a gift, you will be helping to rescue other horses like Velvet. Keep track of veterinary and farrier appointments in the
Ontario SPCA’s 2018 Second Chances calendar, which is the perfect addition to any tack room or office. Among the many animals showcased are Dee and her foal Quin. The Quarter Horse-type mare came into the care of the Ontario SPCA and gave birth to a healthy colt that was the subject of a province- wide contest to name him. There are also a number of symbolic gifts available, in-
cluding “Care for a Horse,” which provides a horse waiting to be adopted with safe shelter, daily grooming, hoof and vet- erinary care and loving attention. The gift recipient will be notified of the gift made in their honour. What better gift for the equestrian who
has everything than to know your gift made a difference in the life of a horse or pony. Shop
pawsandgive.ca this holiday season and help an animal in need. Holiday revelers hosting parties can also
help horses in need by collecting donations at the event. For example, have a special fes- tive treat available by donation or invite guests to make a small donation at the door. A third-party fundraising form to register your
event is available at
ontariospca.ca/ways-to-give You can also help a homeless horse or
pony by welcoming one into your stable. There are many horses still waiting to find a loving family to call their own. Could it be yours? Visit
ontariospca.ca/horses or down- load the Ontario SPCA smartphone app to view horses available for adoption.
Happy holidays from the Ontario SPCA and its four-legged friends!
