| EDITOR’S NOTE |

Welcome to the second issue of Industrial Lifting Exchange! Te response to our launch issue has been fantastic, and we appreciate the feedback you’ve provided to help us deliver a more focused and relevant publication. Many of you have stepped up with a story to share – you’ll read a few of those in this issue and we have many more in the works – and we’re always interested in hearing more of them. We enjoyed meeting many of you at various industry events during the past year and wish we’d had time to attend more.

In addition to sharing your reaction to those events, many of you asked us about other conference and exhibitions that we’d attended or were familiar with. Clearly, events are a very productive tool for learning about new technologies that will impact our operations in often profound ways, and for socializing with suppliers and customers among other things. But which event might serve you best? With an eye toward helping you plan your year our first feature outlines several types of events you may consider, with focus ranging across material handling, rigging equipment, safety, or specific industry sectors. to lifting and rigging. Within that framework we highlight key aspects of select events. Of course, our list is not exhaustive, and if you’ve found an event we should be aware of we’d like to learn more about it. Our second feature takes a look at a massive project involving hundreds of heavy lift operations – and how that process was completely reinvented. Suppose you had to make your operation 20% more efficient on your next project? Tat’s essentially the challenge that the Newport News Shipbuilding Division of Huntington Ingalls Industries took on (their motto: Hard Tings Done Right™) when the Navy commissioned construction of the aircraft carrier John F. Kennedy (CVN 79). Speaking of efficiency, remember that Industrial Lifting Exchange focuses on the hoist

and overhead crane marketplace exclusively in North America to provide companies with a regional or national scope a marketing vehicle scaled to fit their needs. More of you have included Industrial Lifting Exchange in your marketing plans for 2018 and we’re extremely grateful for your participation! And we are still eager for more of the advertising support that will enable ILE to serve your needs this year… and in years to come. You’ll find more about advertising with us on pages 16-17, and you can contact us anytime to build a custom package to accomplish your goals. If you have a story to tell, we look forward to putting our writers to work for you!

Best Regards,
