The Beacon Association Events
We would all like to wish you a very happy new year and a happy and healthy 2018!
The last month has
been a busy one for us all. Some members of the Lytchett & Upton Carnival Committee, had the absolute pleasure of going along to Lytchett & Upton Age Concern’s temporary home to present them with a cheque for £500 to help fund their Christmas lunch.
Over the last year we have been able to make small donations throughout the Parish by raising money from community events, table top sales and the carnival itself. We like to feed back donations to local, worthy causes of all ages and thought that Age Concern would really benefi t from this after their topsy turvy year. We were very pleased to hear that they were getting a permanent building to hold their future events in and for serving the older generation of our community, we wish
Community Art Strand
The Beacon Association Community Art Strand has had a lovely Christmas creating the Upton Christmas makeover – and how
good was it for different organisations to come together to help create the Christmas scene in Upton (pictured).
The new Christmas mural placed behind the clock tower was designed by Mrs Barbara Evans with the aim of creating a mural that gives the true meaning of Christmas. Designed as seen through the eyes of a child and I think this mural ticked all the boxes by depicting the birth of Jesus.
The Art Strand is grateful to the Methodist Church Pre-School, the Brownies, the Big Bug Club, the Fellowship Art Club, together with the Town Council, in helping us to achieve our aim in continuing to bring art to the community and in enhancing the Parish surroundings. We would like to say a big thank you to Travis Perkins for their kind donation of paint.
Our best wishes to everyone for 2018 Mabel Fraser, Beacon Community Art Strand

them all the best. We hope that they are now settled into their new permanent home at the Grove in Upton and had a lovely meal.
We were also delighted to gift donations to the local Rainbows,
Brownies, Beavers and Cubs groups to help subsidise their Christmas outings. Again, we feel being able to give back to our community from our fundraising efforts is such a wonderful part of what we do. We hope that they all had a great time on their outings.
The children’s party was a fantastic event where the children enjoyed a fun disco, Christmas crafts, food and then a visit to Father Christmas. Thank you to all the volunteers that helped on the day.
We hope that you had all had a magical Christmas time as well!
