Scots paper merchant gets £10m funding package
Scotland-based PG Paper Company, an international paper merchant and a key exporter, is to target growth in South America following a £10 million funding package from Santander Corporate & Commercial. Established in Greenock in 2003,
the firm acts as a broker, buying paper directly from mills around
the world. It exports hundreds of containers per month to buyers in regions such as the Indian Sub- Continent, Asia, Turkey and Africa. PG Paper has identified strong
growth opportunities in economies such as Mexico, Brazil, Argentina and Chile. To the end of March 2017, sales grew to £36 million, up 50 percent
year-on-year. The £10 million from Santander includes a £3 million trade bills facility and £2 million foreign exchange line. Chief executive of PG Paper
Poonam Gupta said: “We are constantly developing our presence in new markets, and the comprehensive support from Santander has been key to our
expansion plans in South America. We seek out new, on-going opportunities that offer a win-win situation to our partners and clients. Our local knowledge, multilingual abilities and understanding of the many paper grades we work with ensures we can offer paper for alternative and innovative uses across all our markets.”
Graphic Packaging subsidiaries to buy folding carton producer
Two subsidiaries of US-based Graphics Packaging are to buy the assets of Seydaco Packaging and its affiliates National Carton and Coating, and

Groupe Ecco Boites Pliantes Ltée. The terms of the deal were not
revealed. Seydaco is a leading folding
carton producer in Canada, focused on the foodservice, food, personal care, and household goods markets, converting about 20,000 tons
of paperboard a year at three plants in Mississauga, Ontario, St Hyacinthe, Québec, and Xenia, Ohio. Sales last year were about $40 million.
