The wedding cake is a very personal choice, it can follow the theme of your wedding or it can throw a fun curve ball into the proceedings. Dessert tables are once again a massive trend and one we can see continuing next year as the GBBO influences our desire to bake. They are a super way of catering for a variety of dietary needs too with gluten free cakes and desserts suitable for anyone with diabetes etc all displayed so no one is left out. The dessert table is also a super way for guests to contribute to your day creating a talking point at the same time.
Donuts have also popped up this year with stacks of donuts decorated with flowers adding a touch of fun yet also glamour to the day – and with so many flavours available this isn’t restricting at all. Metallic decoration continues to flourish, but less is more with just one layer decorated with flowers or a calligraphy topper finishing it off. Gone are the days of the simple sponge! Flavour is a big thing this year with coconut and lime sponge or espresso and chocolate being two flavours we’ve seen a lot of and finally cheese wheel stacks are growing in popularity and becoming more elaborate, we also like the idea of boxing up what’s left over as favours for guests to take home with them.
