REAL WEDDING

THE WEDDING OF

HOLLY DANIELLE JOHNS TO MARK JOHN TAYLOR

Holly and Mark were engaged in February 2016 and immediately set their wedding date for the following year, whilst also embarking on an adventure to convert an old lambing barn into their family home!

Barn conversions are stunning, but expensive and as such funds became rather tight and the couple’s wedding became the absolute definition of 'doing it on a budget!' with 110 guests during the day and a further 80 in the evening. “Endless hours of bunting making, jam jar decorating, sign making and charity shop trips were the story of our lives for a long while, but I can honestly say I would not have had it any other way,” says Holly.

Holly and her dad travelled to the church in an ‘old school’ Land Rover decorated with flowers which then brought the married couple back to the reception, with their son Finlay and his cousin Jemma Barron.

Perfect weather, family and friends made for a happy, emotional and wonderful day! St Michael & All Angels Church was extra special because Mark’s parents were also married there and he was christened there too. The wedding was followed by a marquee reception ‘back at the ranch’ with a fabulous cold buffet of cheeses, hams, crusty breads, olives and quiches – “Essentially a 'posh' ploughman’s that went down a treat!” laughs Holly. “Pavlova, mousse, tarts and trifle were on the dessert menu! Plastic cutlery and paper plates completed the crazy day and although I was originally sceptical, to say the least, it actually made it feel all the more rustic and added to the theme.

The evening continued in this rustic farm theme with a full hog roast by Ben Creese butchers, based in Cheltenham, which fed 200 hungry revellers! “The whole day had a truly relaxed atmosphere and an easy- going schedule with lots of fun and happy memories. We would not have had it any other way!” said Holly.
