ENTRY REQUIREMENT • GCSE Mathematics Grade 4 • GCSE English Language Grade 4. A student does not need to have taken GCSE Business Studies (though beneficial, it is not a prerequisite.)
This specification has been designed to provide candidates with a critical understanding of the functions of a business including marketing, finance, human resources and operations. Additionally, the course requires students to learn about: • The internal functions of contemporary business organisations • The dynamic external environment within which businesses operate • Major topical issues that can generate change for business organisations • The range of stakeholder perspectives that can be taken on business activities.

Component 1: What is Business? • 1 hour 30 minute exam • 80 marks • 50% of total AS Level. Section A: Multiple Choice Section B: Short answer questions Section C: Data response question.
Component 2: Decision Making to Improve Business Performance • 1 hour 30 minute exam • 80 marks • 50% of the total AS Level. Case Study Response.

Component 1: What is Business? • 2 hour exam • 100 Marks • 33.33% of total A Level Section A: Section B:
Multiple Choice Short answer questions Section C & D: Two essay questions.
Component 2: Decision Making to improve Business performance • 2 hour exam • 100 marks • 33.33% of total A Level Section A: Three data response questions.
Component 3: Analysing the Strategic Position of a Business • 2 hour exam • 100 marks • 33.33% of total A Level. Case Study Response.
