Of all the places I’ve spent the holiday season, I think Britain in general, and London in particular embrace it with the greatest gusto. No other season is as in- fused with traditions and customs, from the decorations to the music to the food to the entertainment, as the British winter holiday season. Whatever the season means to you at home, there are many ways to enjoy it in the U.K. and in this issue we bring you a guide to a wide selection of them, from the conventional to the slightly wacky (Christmas pudding race anyone?) Our range of articles include joining a choir, navigating traditional British Christmas foods and a collection of the best British literature set around Christmas, giving you a variety of ways to enjoy the season.
Our gorgeous cover image this issue is from the English National Ballet’s stunning staging of the Nutcracker. If you haven’t seen it performed in this country we highly recommend you check out one of their performances. It will be in Southampton at the Mayflower Teatre, 29 November – 02 December and the London Coliseum 13 December 2017 – 06 January 2018
We always aim to bring our readers a wide range of useful articles for expats and this issue is no exception. Te focus may be on the holiday season but we also cover health, finance and law, education and a look at the world of poetry in our Arts & Culture section. As a new year approaches you may be thinking of your next career move. Perhaps an Executive MBA is the way to go. In addition to our guide to EMBA programmes we have an insider’s view of the experience. Our Events & Seminars schedule is packed with an equally wide range of excellent outings, talks and workshops and we look forward to seeing you and your friends at one of them. In the spirit of the season we hope you’ll share this issue with your friends and family, and wish you a wonderful holi- day season and very happy new year.
