THE BUZZ Artisan Opens in West Hartford
Restaurant, Tavern and Garden Offer Distinctive Dining Experience
A
rtisan Restaurant, Tavern and Garden, a beloved and award-
winning restaurant with locations in Southport, CT and Newfane, VT, opened on Thursday, September 7th, just in time for the late summer harvest. ARTISAN celebrates the theme of craftsmanship, combining 18th Century clas- sic Scandinavian design with New England-inspired farm- to-table seasonal cuisine,
artfully prepared by Executive Chef and Partner Frederic Kieffer.
While the three Artisan locations share common threads, the West Hartford locale offers distinctive differences throughout, paying special tribute to the heritage of the area. An expansive 1500 s.f. outdoor pergola and garden - the fi rst of its kind in the area - will offer the freshest of vegetables, herbs and spices, adding to the “garden-to-plate” experience. Guests can dine alfresco under the shaded pergola (seating for 30) adorned with timeless mason jar pendant lights or among the romantic garden (seating for 40) with its natural willow branch hanging lantern globes and soothing sounds of music.
“What we are doing here is special,” stated Chef Frederic Kieffer, a classically-trained, French Chef that has worked at the helm of the Artisan’s New England fare for nearly a decade. “Our garden terrace, in conjunction with the reciprocal relationships we have established with local farms and specialty purveyors, will allow for the freshest of ingredients to fi nd their way to your plate and, more importantly, your palate.”
The New England-inspired cuisine is infl uenced by the rhythm of the seasons and farmstead offerings, delineated on the menu by source - The Garden, The Mill, The Sea and The Land. A notable dish from The Garden is the Baked Vegan Tian, a composition of layered seasonal garden bounty that will thrill our most discerning vegetarian and vegan guests. From The Mill, the Royal Shrimp and Grits pairs heavenly with sweet royal red shrimp, indigenous from Stonington Connecticut, with authentic Carolina gold rice grits, combined into an unforgettable taste of true American delica- cies. From The Sea, the Artisan Seafood Chowder, a New England tradition revisited with a lighter and brighter approach with hints of anise fl avor, oysters, clams, shrimp and fennel-black pepper crackers, served table-side. From The Land the Bison Carpaccio is enhanced with creamy stracciatella, sweet pickled chanterelles and zesty roquette arugula. For dessert, a potted, fl uffy and velvety cheesecake topped with a seasonal fruit concoction will leave guests wanting more.
Located in the heart of Blue Back Square at the Delamar Hotel, ARTISAN Restaurant, Tavern and Garden is open seven days a week. Social Hour 3:00pm - 6:00pm. Dinner service Sunday to Wednesday 5:00pm - 10:30pm, and Thursday to Saturday 5:00pm - 11:00pm. Brunch from 11:00am to 3:00pm. The bar will be open late.
